Not a doctor or lab tech but it would never have occurred to me that anything pregnancy related would come up on the drug screen.

Usually when doing drug testing you have to sign a waiver/consent form – maybe check that for what it is that you’re being tested for specifically and then you can do a more targeted google on whether pregnancy could cause a false positive for those drugs?

I took my drug screen while pregnant.  I don’t think it had any effect.  Congrats on both fronts!!

@winewithwedding:  Congrats!

Was it a urinalysis? I’m trained to give the oral swab test and during training I was not told pregnancy could have any affect.

I work as a recruiter though and I’m not a medical professional.

We do urine drug tests at my work place for patients. Pregnancy will in no way affect the results. Urines are pretty sensitive and accurate as they go by a “cut off” level. That basically means there has to be a certain amount of a substance in your system to even show up On the test. This allows the test to determine opioids vs someone who has eaten a poppy seed bagel and prevents false positives. You’ll be fine !

I doubt you will have any issues, but if you test positive, there is a process that you go through with an expert to resolve the issue before anything is reported to the prospective employer. There is nothing to worry about.

@winewithwedding:  I just wanted to let you know that a little spotting is normal too! I spotted for probably 2 days in a row and then two or three more days randomly when I was first pregnant. I’m holding my 2 month old in my arms now 🙂 It’s hard to not freak over spotting while pregnant but it’s more common than you’d think.

Pregnancy will not give you a false positive for an illicit drug.

There are prescription drugs that may make you test positive for amphetamines, but the confirmatory test knows the difference between amphetamine and methamphetamine.

I would not fuss. Congrats

You’ll be fine. Pregnancy won’t effect the results of a drug screening.
