Funny that I found this thread. We hadn’t talked seriously about getting engaged for a few months, so last night I brough it up, and showed him Eidel’s etsy page…I’m in love with her sapphire split shank and single shank rings. I showed him some of her past work, and basically said, hey, when the time comes, I want a ring from her. Her prices are great, the quality is lovely, and I just love her style of a big center stone and TONS of little diamonds surround it! Definitely will get a custom from her whenever it happens XD

He asked me (after dating for 5 months, which was 5 months before he proposed) what kind of ring I wanted, and I had no idea. So I looked online at different styles and decided I liked a sort of vintage look with “twists” as I was calling them. (Also called “split shank” I’ve come to learn.) Then we went to a few jewelry stores to look and try on. “Twists” were the only ones I liked on my hand, the only kind that I felt looked like “my ring” and made me light up. He ended up going to a different jeweler and having the ring made, but it has my lovely twists and it is the perfect ring for me. It’s been on my hand for a few months now and I still stare at it all the time!

I had a previous ring that he bought for me which looked like an engagement ring LOL. I said I want my engagement ring to be like this one!
Also e-mailed him other pics but he stuck to my original and now my e-ring is exactly what I asked for! LOL down to the cathedral setting.

My Fiance asked a good friend of mine to find out my ring preference while we were at the gym months ago. Because we are such good friends and talk about that kind of stuff, I didn’t catch on. I told her I liked princess cut solitaire rings because they are so classic and elegant. Well unbeknownst to me she told him my preference and he ended up not even listening! He custom designed a beautiful 3 stone ring; the centre elevated diamond being princess cut, and the two sides trapezoids. It’s funny too because I told my friend I didn’t really like 3 stone rings and he took a gamble anyway. It paid off well because my ring is absolutely stunning and suits me to a tee

While out shopping he joking said “well lets avoid this store” and then i said NO lets look! To my surprise we went in and looked at rings. The next day i did my research and gave him information about the exact ring i wanted. He didnt know where to keep it so i put it in his wallet. As far as i know he is saving to make the purchase.
So i am waiting. lol. But i wouldnt want to be there and know the exact ring. And he wont tell me when or anything i know he wants it to be a big surprise.

He told me to pick out the exact ring I wanted (he wants to know it’s my absolutely perfect dream ring) and then just email him the info. Lol I mailed him 2 rings so he can have the final pick and kind of surprise me. Lol but he wanted it idiot proof, hes afraid of messing it up as I have very specific jewelry tastes. What a sweetie. Now I play the waiting game…
