A little background information. SO proposed in a casual way years ago, of course I said yes! He told me he wanted to “do it right” at a later date, but I really thought that would never come, at least not in the “traditional” way he had in mind but this was important to him.
To be brief, SO is physically disabled, always will be. I’ve always known this, having known him since we were kids. This wasn’t a shock to me and when we agreed to live together, we also agreed I’d be the breadwinner. He wanted desperately to get me a ring by himself, for two years he talked about a ring and for those two years it was TORTURE, bees.
Well, a lot certainly changes! We are now both working. Our boss, a kind old soul, admires SO’s work ethic and his strength. He gave SO a job with the added perks of accomodating his disability, including letting me be his rock at work so he doesn’t hurt himself. What’s even more amazing, the boss gave him a raise within two months!
Things are going great, it’s sometimes shocking how money can make your life easier. We were happy before because we had eachother, but now we have money to build our dreams with! One of those dreams of his was a ring.
We’re in the process of a custom ring right now, a stone on hold and money acquired and everything!
It’s just….I’m sitting here, after knowing I loved this person since I was fifteen, having these girly little thoughts about marrying him. Ten years later, he’s buying a RING! I’m in shock and I want to cry out of happiness. I can’t wait to see the ring. I can’t wait to tell our families(we’re lucky in that we’re both loved by our future in-laws) and just basking in this new, exciting time in our lives. My heart’s POUNDING!
SO was gushing the other day to his hair stylist about the ring and all the stylist girls kind of giggled about how happy and excited he looked. ๐ He wants an engagement ring too “to show everyone” so we’re both going to be sporting some bling!
Can’t wait to post pictures of my sparkly to the Bee!
