I have an interview next week on Tuesday that I’ll be flying in from out of state for and the hiring manager and one other person will be taking me out to dinner Monday night. What should I wear to the dinner?
This being my first job post-grad school, I only own one suit and then some stuff that could be considered business casual but not much. The job is for a post-doctoral scientist position within a big pharma company. I don’t want to overdress and make eating uncomfortable (nor do I want to have to repeat the suit), but I don’t want to underdress either.
Would something like this be ok, maybe with a cardi? (I’m uber petite so the dress will come to my knees):

That dress is perfect. I was going to recommend a shift dress with a cardigan.

I think with a nice cardigan this dress would work perfectly.

I was going to recommend same thing, shift dress with a nice cardigan or pencil skirt, something knee length or longer and a button up shirt is always a nice look too. Good luck !!

Beautiful dress! Pair it with a pretty cardigan, classic pumps and low key jewellery (maybe a nice, small silver pendant?) and you’re good to go! Good luck with your interview 🙂

Check out the blog CapHillStyle. It’s full of business appropriate outfits and advice. It’s not my blog but I read it religiously. The writer just did a post about business casual meetings.
