We are being married by out (Lutheran) pastor in an ceremony not in the church. She requires that we meet three times before she will preform the ceremony. Have any of you gone through pre-marriage classes? What were they like? What did you talk about?

We are also Lutheran (LCMS) and we are meeting with our pastor for the first time Friday! We’ve known him since we were born but I’m still really nervous. I am also wondering what it will be like.

Good Luck! We belong to an ELCA Lutheran Church. Our pastor is beyond amazing, so comfortable and relatable. I know it won’t be anything terrible, but it would be nice to have an idea of what to expect! lol

We are getting married in a Lutheran WELS church and recently had our first of three sessions. Our pastor had us take an introductory individual quiz about our expectations, priorities about marriage. Then he went through bible verses that speak about marriage. That took 2 hours. I do not know what we will be doing in the next two sessions.

We’re baptist and our pastor had us meet with him. I loved talking to him about marriage and expectations of husbands and wives. He gave us a few books to read too!

We’re nondenominational but our premarital classes were very helpful. They were 7 classes about expectations, conflict resolution, budgeting, roles and our personal relationship with God.

lexmek27: I haven’t gone through mine yet, but my pastor, Lutheran also, said there is three. He asks questions about the relationship, to see how you figure out problems in the first class. The second is the ceremony planning, and the third is how the ceremony will go down. I believe that is what he told me!
