So I am just watching Randy to the Rescue, the Nashville episode where a bride is recovering from thyroid cancer. At the part where she gets her hair done, she asked the stylist what she can do to make her hair shinier and healthier, because it was somewhat damaged with her illness/treatment. He suggested pre-natal vitamins…
What? Really? Has anyone heard this before or tried it?

I just saw that yesterday..I take Biotin and use Biotin shampoo and conditioner, as well as take Sea Buckthorn Oil, which helps hair, skin, and nails. Never tried prenatal vitamins though..

Yep, I have. Don’t remember what the active ingredient was, but you can also get it individually as a pill without all the other ingredients in prenatal vitamins. Sorry I’m spacing on what it was.

I know a few women that take pre-natal vitamins for their hair, nails, and skin. I’ve been debating on taking them too.

Hmm, I’ve been taking them for a month or more now and I haven’t noticed anything!

I’ve been taking prenatals as well as biotin and my hair is defintely a lot healthier and growing faster. I also use mane ‘n tail shampoo (horse shampoo) every other day, becuase my hair dresser told me it’ll make your hair grow faster.
My nails already grow super fast, so I didn’t really notice any change in them until recently I’ve decided that they’re growing extra super fast.

Hmmm maybe I should try some of this stuff! I want to get my hair as long as possible for our wedding in 18 months.

I’ve been using a “Hair Skin and Nails” vitamin with lots of Biotin for a few months now, and I haven’t noticed any change at all…my hair is still growing at it’s excruciatingly slow rate. 🙁

@Pinkmoon: &
@likelimeade: Definitely try biotin, I think that’s what really got mine growing faster. I just got my hair colored 12 days ago and I already have almost 1/2″ of roots showing. My hair has always grown so slow, so I got really excited when my roots were showing so soon. My biotin is 5000mcg and I take it twice a day.

I take prenatals for my hair/skin and I have seen the difference. I also take biotin daily too.

I take pre-natals everyday! They help with everything, since they’re a small dosage of all the necessary vitamins!
