I have been to second hand shops in person.  My only word of caution is to consider that the color white/ivory oxidizes over time and that, depending on the age of the dress and how it has been stored, the second hand dress may be considerably more yellow in appearance.  The dry cleaning chemicals also do this to the color white as well.

I bought my dress from preownedweddingdesses.com And I love it! Mine was a sample that looked brand new. I wasn’t able to try it on but when it came it fit like it was made for me! I went back and forth with the seller several times asking about any damages and to send more pics. My experience was great but I went in expecting to have to repair a very inexpensive dress. Luckily I don’t have to.

SeaBride:  I also had a great experience with preownedweddingdresses.com.  My dress was also a sample and it arrived perfectly and was a super easy transaction.  I ended up saving about $2,000 on my dress.
