marlos :  Dip nails usually last about a week longer than gel for me but they cause about as much damage to your natural nail as acrylics since they use the same method of using the little machine to file your nails so that the powder will adhere; this has been my experience.

If I were you I’d probably get regular nail polish for the wedding (usually cheaper too!) and then get them re-done with either gel or dip powder right before the trip.

If you like acrylics they usually last me a whole month because my nails grow slow but they mess up my natural nail more than anything else ):

I would just get a regular mani now, no damage to your nails and then you can proceed with getting your nails done whichever way you would like right before you leave for France.

marlos :  No I don’t now I’ve only ever gotten solid colors. They file your nail then put what looks like a clear coat on it and dip your finger into a powder. They do it 3-4 times and it gets thick enough that I can’t bite them off, I’m a nail bitter too and I can bite the gel off. I’ve had them finish it with a clear powder top coat and a gel top coat but the clear powder looked shinier.

If you want a fun design/decal maybe try acrylics because you can add length to your nails. I like them for special occasion and vacations. They are the strongest and last the longest even with regular polish but if you’ve never had them can be really uncomfortable and almost painful if your nails aren’t use to that kind of filing.

This is a dip gel manicure that I’ve had for 6 days. It was my first. It still looks really good – it has grown out a bit but I’m pregnant and my nails are growing a little faster than normal. It’s still really shiny.

I am anticipating a proposal this weekend and this is what I got done yesterday it is also the gel dip. I love the gel dip I have gotten them done every 2 weeks for 2.5 years now and love it. I am a nurse and wash my hands constantly and they look the same the day I go to get them changed as when I walk out after getting them minus the out growth. You won’t regret it.

peekaboobs :  thank you! My e-ring is a vintage piece from the 1920s. I thought I’d have to have a wedding band custom made for it because the curve is a bit odd and I didn’t want a gap. But I found this wedding band in our tiny small town jewelry store when we went to buy DH’s band. The emeralds matched and the curve matched. It was meant to be!

I love the flash of color! Your set sounds gorgeous too.

Gel should last the two weeks, and then you can just have them remove it and put new gel on at your next mani before going to France. I have acrylic nails with gel on top. I get a re-fill of the acrylic and a gel polish change every 4-5 weeks, and I never have a problem with the gel lasting that long.

I would just do a polish and when you leave for France then do what you would want for your proposal
