Try to get in at least two 60 minute sessions. I would say one in the next week or so and then the other a day or two before the wedding. I enjoy getting facials in the evening since they are so relaxing and definitely try to find a reputable esthetician who uses organic lines.

@thdpr:  Schedule them now! Sometimes facials make your skin break out, so you want to start well in advance.

If you have sensitive skin (I do), they usually recomend not getting more than 1 facial w/ extractions a month.

If you don’t have sensitive skin, try a microderm abrasion 1x a month.

You can get a ‘light’ facial with no extractions/chemical peels/deep exfoliations a week before your wedding.

Since you are in the Mile High City, I can recommend with NO reservation, that you schedule the Ultimate Facial at Tallgrass Spa…Since your looking at March 10th…I would think that one in the next two weeks, and another with at least a few days before your wedding is a good idea…

Tallgrass is an amazing spa, up in the mountains of Evergreen, the entire atmosphere is relaxing and serene, the staff is second to none, and if you have questions or concerns, they are the ones to help.

Also, if you have the extra cash, a Salt Glow Body Scrub is an amazing way to have soft radiant skin from head to toe on your special day!

@CityBearBride:  I just want to say on the flip side of your comment about breaking out: I never break out and I have sensitive skin to boot. If there is any redness after my facials from deep extractions, it goes away by the next morning.

@MissStumptown:  Lucky you!! If I have deep blackheads, I’ll be red for a least a few days after =T

OP, try a facial and see how your skin reacts! Everyone is different and has different recovery times and that can vary by spa, type of facial, etc.

@CityBearBride: Agh that sucks! I couldn’t imagine having any more redness than I already have. I hope my reply to you didn’t come off as a brag, because I definitely have some skin problems (my last facial, my esthetician had to use a lancet to help some blocked pores extract!). I was just trying to illustrate your point about how everyone’s skin is different. ๐Ÿ™‚

@thdpr:  You need to decide whether you want extractions or not. I would not recommend doing extractions anywhere close to the wedding, because when they go wrong they go VERY wrong and you don’t want scabs for the wedding.

I would do facials monthly leading up to the wedding. The last thing you want is to have a weird reaction close to the wedding. Don’t try any new products within 6 weeks of the wedding.

Talk to the facialist to try and adress any issues you may have. Occasional breakout? Dryness? Oily skin? Treatment really varies based on skin type and individual concerns.

@thdpr:  I think Nona means that they do the scrub for you as part of a spa service. They might sell versions of their products to take home that you can use in the tub as well. My hairdresser/spa has their own line of products you can buy.

@thdpr:  my only suggestion is to not get a facial within a week or two of your wedding. If you get redness or break out after a facial, it won’t be healed by the wedding day. Most experts agree with this too.
