Drink LOTS of water.  You’d be shocked at how many calories are in some of the things we drink.

Eat clean- reduce/eliminate processed & prepackaged foods.  Focus on lean meats, fresh fruits & veggies, whole grains.  Try MyFitnessPal.com to set a daily calorie goal and stick to it.

Lift weights- don’t be afraid of heavy weights.  Lean muscle mass burns more at rest than fat mass.  More muscle = higher metabolism.  Think squats, deadlifts, lunges for legs and bench press, rows, shoulder presses, bicep curls, and tricep dips for arms.  Planks and yoga are awesome for core.

Cardio- You have to melt the fat off the top of all those newly toned muscles!  Take a spin class, walk up a hill, ride a bike, swim laps, try out step aerobics, go hiking.

Try to lift weights 3 days a week (take a day off in between to rest & recover) and do cardio 2 days a week (maybe the days in between weights) and do intense intervals once a week- short, intense bursts of activity followed by brief recovery (but don’t recover completely)- something like running on a treadmill for one minute, then walking for two minutes, then running for one minute, walking for two…

Also, maybe find activities you & your Fiance can do together.  You’ll both be getting fit as well as bonding & maybe even discovering a new activity you both love.

I didn’t really do anything different pre-wedding but I started doing Shawn T’s Insanity! workout videos at home a couple of weeks ago and I’ve already lost a couple of pounds without changing my diet. It’s a pretty substantial time commitment (45min, 6 days a week) but you do it at home, which is why I chose it. It’s challenging but at the end SO worth it!!

Shaun T…………..ugh me an him have a love/hate!!!! i do insanity and hip hop abs..ive noticed a lil difference in the last 2 weeks ..im also drinkin lots more water and walking on my lunch break

Paleo, or as close as you can get, I’m about 85% and I’ve definitely seen and felt the benefits.  Mostly I’m talking about the philosophy– not any hard core lifestyle changes. 


Crossfit– seriously, it’s the best total body workout you can imagine.  I started at about 155lbs, size 12/14 street size with a size 10 (too-small!!!) wedding dress; the week before my wedding my seamstress had to take in my dress again because it was a little too big! 

ETS: Insanity & P90X are similar programs, but I can’t stand workout DVDs– but it’s the same concept as  crossfit, but I definitely prefer the group classes at my gym.

While I’m not trying to lose weight for my wedding, I did start doing Turbo Fire (same people as Shaun T’s Insanity – Kudos to all the Bees who are doing it!).  I started Insanity but it was too hard for me.  I find Turbo Fire doable and in a couple of weeks, I went down one pants size.  As for diet, I use My Fitness Pal app.  It helps me track down what I’m eating.

Running! This has helped me lose my stomach so fast as it was always my biggest problem area!!! Start off slow thats what I have done and can now run 3km at a time without stopping. My goal is 5km without stopping but its definetly something oyu have to work up too
