I’m sure others have had different experiences but mine was pretty useless. We discussed when to go off the pill, genetic testing (I’m half jewish), taking vitamins, etc. We chatted for a just a few minutes and then she send me to get a blood test for rubella. I didn’t find it all that helpful, but I guess I’m glad I went.

Congrats!

@bestforlast: What does being half Jewish have to do with genetic testing? just wondering.

There is a genetic mutation in some Eastern European jews that is linked to a list of disorders like Tay-Sachs and Cystic Fibrosis. More info here: http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/topics/ashkenazi/ashkenazi.html

My understanding is that, unfortunately, insurance only covers the test once you’re preganant. Sounds a little backwards to me.

My apt was useless. She just told me to start taking prenatals and that I could just go off the pill when we wanted to start trying. She said my cycle might not be regular, but there was no reason to wait after stopping the pill. (I was on ortho tri cylcen lo). She said to exercise and eat a balance diet. I had had a prevously abnormal pap, but she said that there wasn’t anything in my record that riased red flags.

Just had mine and found out that I had never gotten the MMR shot when little (which is totally odd since I’ve had every shot under the sun).  Dr. “advises” me to go and get it but says that I need to stop TTC for 3 months from the date of injection.

I’ve talked it over with my Darling Husband and I have decided not to get the shot b/c we don’t feel as though it is worth the 3 month wait.

Anyone else run into this?
