Where the heck to begin? Okay, first off, my phone and this site don’t get along as far as pics go, so if I post giant pics in this post, I apologize right away.
Now, onto the underwear issue. 😝 I got a lovely, slinky reception dress. My ceremony gown is fully lined. I could wear blaze orange underwear underneath it and no one would be the wiser (don’t worry. I won’t.) The reception gown, on the other hand is, well, it needs a slip, let’s just say that.
The slip that got ordered was white instead of nude and also control, which I don’t need. I believe if the slip was nude it would solve some of the issues or at least help ease them.
David’s has no slips in nude of this style (needs to be slit very high up the back center) in any size remotely near what I would need, PLUS, the style that got ordered has a control panel and, not only do I not need this, but the seams from it SHOW through the gown! Davids has no other option without a control panel.
I needed a full length slip (from waist down) as my bust does not show through, HOWEVER, when I put the slip on, you can then see a distinct area between my bust and my waist where my skin tone is showing through! It’s nearly like a Pnina Tornai or something with the see-through effect it gives. While I needed such a slip in nude, I scored the Internet and found nothing.
So then I ended up getting all excited and ordering a maxi slip by Yummie thinking I’d solved my problems., but realized today the back of the slip is waaaaaay too high for my illusion style backed gown (I’ll include a photo, but this phone s d site make it impossible for me to caption anything, so you smart ladies will be able to figure out what’s what.)
So, what the HECK is the solution here, ladies? Anyone else encounter this or a similar issue? Anyone know how a seamstress might help me fix this ridiculous First Workd problem? Can the Yummie slip be altered to fit the dress so it’s not showing? The seamstress I’ll be using is pretty much reviewed as a miracle worker, so that makes me feel good, but I’m still worried. Do you think it’s just simpler to have her create and add a full lining to the entire dress? Have any of you had that done or know of anyone who has?
So, in the photos, keep in mind the gown is too big so when it’s fitted properly the undergarments will be even more apparent.
And, again, I am so sorry for the size of the photos!
