Two minutes after I start running I feel like I have to pee, bad. It sucks. I made it 27 minutes before I popped a squat (and it’s in the teens) and peed, in a neighborhood, in the snow, with a couple of dogs watching. I ran for 25 more minutes and felt like I was about to pee my pants again by the time I got home. I know this is common later in pregnancy but I’m only 16.5 weeks and this started happening about 2-3 weeks ago! Will it get better, get worse, stay the same? I was planning on running for as long as I could during pregnancy but this is so not fun.

I have terrible news… It gets worse. MUCH worse.
I stopped running after 19w (okay, one 3mi run at 24 weeks) because of the constant need to pee. First it was every 30 minutes I had to pee, then every 20, every 10…
And by the start of the third trimester, I had to stop WALKING to pee every 30 minutes! And now I’m 40w, and I had to stop every 20 minutes while I was walking today.

Ditto here! I’m only 10 weeks and 30 mins is about my limit. I start getting uncomfortable after about 20. UGH!

lol no.. but only because i haven’t even been running that long. i made it a mile before i felt out of breath and walked. (and i ran a marathon in Nov so i’m not usually whimpy). AND i only just found out i’m preg so it’s not like i’m far along/have any belly whatsoever. hoping it improves

I’ve never been preggos, but at the risk of sounding dumb, any chance it could be a UTI?
I never knew what a UTI was the first time I got one. I thought I was peeling so much because I was doing so well on my diet. Ha.

It might get better and it might get worse. I had a few bouts early in pregnancy where I had a lot of urges to urinate, and then my uterus moved up and out of the way a bit. Now that I’m bigger (27 weeks), I will sometimes feel a sudden need to go when baby changes position. Sometimes, waiting a few minutes alleviates the feeling, sometimes not! I don’t suspect it’s going to get easier from here on out.

Yup! Would have to stop a couple of times during my cardio session to go for a pee. Got better after I stopped running, but came back with a vengeance in my third trimester.

I’ve had this problem since the beginning but it’s so much more intense now that little dude has settled head down, he is constantly squishing my bladder with his huge head!!

@MrsAKSkier Right there with you, I am only 9 weeks but have been having this problem for a couple weeks already. Weirdly enough, I used to have the Mirena IUD and I always felt like i had to pee during runs when I had it – I guess my uterus and blader are really close together or something.

Noooo. I think you’re probably right but that’s not what I want to hear hahah!
I am so hoping my uterus moves up…..even if it will be only be better temporarily!
No, I’ve had a UTI a couple times. This is only when I’m running or jumping. My uterus/baby seems to be on my bladder!

I didn’t have a problem with it until around 25 weeks+ but yeah, it happens. I did 4 miles and really had to pee the last half of it. So it happened to me occasionally, but I haven’t had it bad. I can still do a 45 minute workout (elliptical and weights) without having to pee at almost 33 weeks. I’m not sure it’ll get better though if you’re already having it. I pretty much had to quit jogging around 30 weeks because of too much ligament pain.

You’ve had a uterus sitting on your bladder since you got pregnant, and it continues to get bigger and bigger so yeah I hate to say it but it’s only going to get worse every week!

I found that I sort of got used to it. I would just make sure to pee immediately before leaving the house, and then if the urge strikes, try to ignore it until it goes away. It usually worked pretty well! But, I had to stop running at 5.5 months along because the pressure of my uterus on my pelvic floor gave me horrible pain. It was such a bummer, because I wanted to be one of those people jogging at 9 months. I just switched to power-walking with weights and tried not to look back!

Yep! It happened to me too. I go work out on the elliptical and bike now at the gym and find that 3 min in to my workout I have to pee.

I was just doing a workout video at home and had to stop it twice to pee (it was only 30 mins long). I’m 32 weeks now and have to pee (which is really just a trickle these days) all the time.
