Hi there.

I had been TTC for two years before my hydrosalpinx was discovered. My RE quickly decided to remove it because he said not only was it preventing a pregnancy in that tube, but it was actively working against any pregnancy that might occur. I had had two ectopics at this point. The surgery was successful and he wanted us to go through IVF. At that time though, we were just so emotionally exhausted that we decided against it and rolled the dice for a natural pregnancy. I ended up getting pregnant naturally two years later (at 39!) I now have a wonderful, happy and healthy 4 month old little girl ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey, my sister was diagnosed with hydro after 2 failed rounds of ivf. She went on to have both her tubes clipped, and is now 7 weeks pregnant on her third round, so for her getting her tubes clipped was the best thing she could have done.

There are plenty of success stories out there after treating hydro, people like the previous poster who remove the 1 infected tube who go on to have natural pregnancies due to  still having one healthy tube, or people like my sister who treat the infected tubes and have success via ivf.

I wish you luck Bee x

I was diagnosed with hydro in my right tube in August after 2 years of TTC. My RE recommended removing it because my left tube is not functional due to adhesions so I will need IVF to get pregnant and he said the success rate of IVF is much less with a hydrosalpinx. I successfully had it removed in October and will be starting IVF in the new year. I’m really hoping it works the first round. Good luck to you whatever you chose to do!
