Pregnancy after copper IUD.

My doctor did tell me it’s best to have a cycle without the IUD first because the copper IUD causes inflammation in your uterine lining and you’ll eliminate all of that inflammation on your monthly.

That said, I’m not trying to get pregnant and have never been pregnant so have nothing further to add.

I read the whole wait a cycle thing too, but the fact is that unless the conditions are perfect you’re not going to get pregnant anyway. It’s not going to matter if you have unprotected sex.

I had Mirena and was told it didn’t matter when we tried by my doctor. We tried for five cycles and nothing. Then circumstances changed so we haven’t continued. Good luck to you both!

it sounds to me like all the reasons to wait are just because it seems unlikely you’d get pregnant if you didn’t.  May as well have some unprotected sex and see what happens.  *shrug* what’s the harm?

I had paraguard out last month and the Dr told me I was good to go right away. I had no bleeding when getting it out and had my normal timed AF that month. Now this month just waiting to see if things will stay normal, but so far they seem to be!

tillymac :  I had the paragard for a year.  Removed it in January 2016, and didnt get pregnant until August 2016, I then miscarried September 2016, got pregnant again in Nov/Dec 2016.

tillymac :  Happy trying! Try not to get too bogged down by statistics.

So after just posting days ago that all seemed normal…did anyone have their cycle length change? I’ve been a solid 28 day cycle girl for several years (even before paraguard) and now I am on CD 31. Trying to decide if I should chalk this up to my body being confused by iud removal or if I should POAS….

tillymac :  CONGRATS!!! I got pregnant within the first month of my Paraguard being removed & am now 17 weeks.. We thought it would take a few months at least & were shocked by how quickly it all happened!
