@SweetCaroline89:  I’m so glad you checked back in! It really does simultaneously seem like yesterday and 1 million years ago that we were in the 6+ month TTC thread. I hope everything goes well with your birth!

Just a general update, not much happening here beyond some surprise overnight pregnancy carpal tunnel which is pretty unpleasant. We check in on baby Wednesday, then he’ll probably be born on Thursday morning. I don’t think he’s flipped, and honestly, I’m 100% okay with it at this point. I said from the beginning, “if he’s going to flip, I want him to do it by 38 weeks so I can just accept how birth is likely to go/not go.” I thought my water might be leaking a little on Saturday (nope, lmao, just general nether-bits sweat from cozy PJ pants and a blanket and a laptop) and got SO excited. I do think that the anticipation of knowing when he’s going to come makes it easier to psych myself out…there’s this concrete period of time to fixate on. As a type A person, that makes me laugh, because usually I’m all about planning, but I regularly tell my mom and husband “my primal ape brain is NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW when birth is happening” and it really does feel that way. Hormones!

@lifetimegoals:  Oh bee, I’m so incredibly sorry this happened to you! I hope you sue and you and your family are well compensated! I’m glad you’re in therapy and finding ways to cope with the PTSD. I hope the trauma subsides and you’re able to fully enjoy your little boy soon. Hugs to you!

AFM – we had our 20 week US on Friday and despite her pressing REALLY F*CKING HARD, it went well lol.

@dianaj17 was right, and our little peanut is a GIRL!! I’m honestly in disbelief. I was positive it was a boy. I’m beyond excited to have a daughter and DH is coming around to the idea of being her superhero for many years but is terrified of her teenage years already haha! Baby girl was sleeping with her head down by my right hip, spine across the top of my uterus & her little legs crossed. It was so cute. The tech wasn’t able to a good pic of her heart because of position so I’ll likely have to go back in 2-3 weeks to try again… I’m not complaining! haha.

@Charliejeorge:  CONGRATULATIONS! It’s been so boy heavy around here, I KNEW it had to be a girl. I remember being so surprised at how hard they have to press to get those measurements. It took them FOREVER to get all the kidney shots, my belly was sore. And the extra scan will be a huge perk too…we didn’t have any after 20 weeks until our 30 week L&D visit, and by then, he was huge and hiding his face. I sort of wish we’d splurged on one of the 3D boutique places around 28 weeks, but it’s also super exciting to have no idea what he looks like. Any lingering disappointment with your DH should vanish ASAP…mine REALLY wanted a girl, but it didn’t take long at all for him to get over it and get excited about a boy. We figure, there’s really not much difference for a long time anyhow, and they’re all so different…you could end up with a very chill sports-loving daughter just as easily as a higher-drama shopaholic son, ha!

@dianaj17:  Thank you! Thats what I told him too, he’s like “I’m gonna get her all the tomboy stuff”, which i think is awesome! He called her he daughter for the first time last night when talking to his sister, so I think he’s getting more used to the idea already haha. He’s going to be really freaking cute with a daughter.

@morecookiesplease:  Thank you! It still doesnt feel real, I totally have imposter symdrome still lol. I am still feeling kind of the same. Some days are good, some days are bad. The new glasses really helped and I’ve figured out that I get headaches when I overdo it, so I really have to be vigilant about resting as much as I possibly can & listening to my body very closely. It seems like if I can stop what I’m doing and rest when I have a headache come on, I can mitigate it. If I wake up with one, it’s much harder but a good nap tends to help a lot. Dr is sure its hormonal because your hormones reset when you sleep, so thats makes sense why a nap would help. How are you and baby boy doing?

@Charliejeorge:  if it makes you feel any better, I’m 38+4 and having a baby on Thursday and I still have terrible imposter syndrome lmao. I don’t think it ever goes away for some of us.

@dianaj17:  that imposter syndrome is always kind of there! I had it through my whole pregnancy! I’m glad your new glasses are helping. Pregnancy can be so rough sometimes, hang in there and get rest when you need it! I hope your headaches get better over time! Baby and I are doing well! He is growing so fast, it’s crazy! It’s so much fun watching him learn new things everyday!

@dianaj17: I cannot believe you’re most likely having a baby THIS WEEK! How did that even happen? How is your body feeling?

@morecookiesplease: Awe, I cant wait to watch my little one explore and learn! That’s gotta be so fun! I’m glad you’re both doing well! Are you able to take much time off for maternity leave?

Thank you both for validating my imposter symdrome! I have a friend with an 11 year old and she says she still has it and it might go away when im a grandma lol. Guess its something I’ll just have to work past or ignore!

@Charliejeorge:  Eek, a girl! So happy and excited for you! Also glad to hear you’re feeling better with the new glasses; headaches in the second trimester are rough and tylenol is a joke, ha! I hope the follow up scan goes well and baby girl shows off her heart.

@Charliejeorge:  other than the sudden carpal tunnel that developed overnight after putting together the most complicated bassinet in history (it’s gorgeous and the mattress is SO COMFY for baby, but my god it took hours), I feel pretty good! No real pressure/pain since baby is up so high, so the only real complaint is that he’s permanently lodged in my left-side ribs and that hurts sometimes. But, I’m eating well, sleeping REALLY well (the covid booster seems to have fixed my long-covid-caused insomnia, and unisom and magnesium have me sleeping so great with no leg cramps), and still pretty mobile, so no real complaints. I agree with FrenchToastVegan, pregnancy headaches are THE WORST (I had a few in the 1st and mid-3rd tri) and Tylenol does less than nothing for them. There’s nothing worse than staring longingly at the ibuprofen bottle on top of the fridge when you’re pregnant and not feeling well.

@frenchtoastvegan:  Eeeek! Thank you, I’m so excited to buy flowery things lol. Seriously, I don’t know who invented Tylenol, but it’s laughable!I have to take 1000mg for it to have any hope of touching the pain. I hope she cooperates for the follow up too, thank you! She was looking directly ahead so the tech kept getting creepy skull images of her haha. The profile snapshot we got of her was taken at a crazy angle from the top of my uterus so it isnt very good. I’m hoping to get a better one at our follow up!

@dianaj17:  Ouch! I HATE furniture that takes forever to assemble, and DH hates it even more lol. We may go to Ikea this weekend and he’s already dreading the projects lol. It’s great you haven’t experienced muscle cramps, I have heard they can be terrible! I take extra magnesium every night, so hopefully that prevents me from getting them too! I’m so happy to hear that you’re sleeping well!! That seems like a miracle after you’ve been struggling with insomnia for so long! I had no idea the booster could help with long-covid symptoms. I dont think we even have the boosters available here yet, so I know nothing about them. The headaches are by far the worst part of pregnancy for me. I cant say there haven’t been a few times I looked at the Advil & thought “one dose can’t hurt too much, right?” sealed Yikes! lol.

Had our 39 week appointment today at 38+6, and barring some VERY statistically unlikely gymnastics, baby boy will be here TOMORROW. Before the doctor even palpated my stomach she was like “I’m pretty sure that’s a head sticking out right there”, and palpation and ultrasound confirmed it. We’re nervous but so excited. I’m sad pregnancy is almost over, but also am so ready. I’ll miss the kicks and the bump so much. I think it helps that there haven’t been great kicks for a few weeks now, with the breech positioning. It’s also weird because like…we’re getting a baby. Baby cuddles and just having him here will be SO much better than the bump and kicks. I think it’s a combination of first-time-mom-brain and post-loss-anxiety…like, yes pregnancy is ending, but it’s coming with a prize. It looks like I’m feeling imposter syndrome right to the end, because I still legitimately cannot believe there’s a whole-ass baby in there that is being born.

Despite this being the opposite of what we hoped for, I’m just so relieved and excited. Our doctor is super crunchy and amazing, so she signed off on our whole hippie-dippie gentle C birth plan, so it should be a really positive experience. Mostly, I just can’t believe that it’s here. Those early, anxious days seem so far away.
