Baby is here! I’ll do a longer update later but it overall went well. I was much more anxious than I thought I’d be, to the point where we were waiting to go back to the OR and I was like “they’re going to have to knock me out, I just can’t do this.” But my doula, the nurses, and the anesthesiologists were incredible. The spinal was nothing at all and it worked beautifully. The clear drape was amazing (you can’t see anything, they just lower it and out baby against it while they wait for the cord to pulse for 90 seconds), I’ll never forget that feeling of seeing him.

He was perfect, and they had him on my chest within a few minutes. At that point, my uterus wasn’t contracting, so they had to give me a huge cocktail of meds: pitocin, methergine, cytotec (they put it in your butt, FYI), and then a shot of something else in my thigh. It was never a true emergency…he stayed on my chest and I ended up not losing too much blood. The problem really comes afterwards, it makes you super crampy so I’ve been struggling with pain management since the spinal wore off. But, it certainly hasn’t made him sleepy…he’s been nursing nonstop and has OPINIONS. I didn’t know a newborn could be so cranky and surly lol. His three modes are nursing, cuddling at exactly the right incline, and screaming.

I feel like I’m in a dream. I think back to the total heartbreak I felt in March, and then the terror of being pregnant again, and it was worth it one billion trillion times over.

@dianaj17:  came back to see this update!! Congratulations, he’s lovely! I’m glad the birth went well and that he’s nursing well! You had a baby boy on the same day that my friend did ❤️ Must be a lucky day! And yes, newborns are like grumpy old men for the first couple months lol. Good luck over the next few days x

@dianaj17:  congratulations!!!

haha I joked that I wanted my daughter to come out furiously screaming because I wanted immediate confirmation her lungs were strong. She did…and continued screaming for the next week. She was SO disgruntled at being born but has luckily mellowed out

I haven’t been on here in a while but have just had a quick catch up. Firstly, a masisve congratulations to all those of you who have had your sweet babies in the past couple of months. I hope the ladies who had a rough time with birth, or things didn’t go as hoped, have recovered. I’m sure Christmas was all the sweeter for you all this year.

Secondly a huge thank you to all of you who replied with supportive messages when I posted about bleeding in my first trimester. I took a break from all things pregnancy related because honestly I found it all incredibly difficult and needed to block it all out to cope. Every milestone felt bittersweet and I felt so much sadness for our lost baby and guilt over not being connected to this one. BUT I’m now coming up to 21 weeks, we have graduated from our IVF clinic and then fetal medicine with perfect scans and are having a baby girl. I’m feeling lots of movement and you were all right about how reassuring that is! It’s still hard but I feel the overwhelming love for her that I wasn’t sure I was capable of feeling again.

@Equine_Breeder:  not sure how many others are still pregnant/active but I’m really hoping your post means you’ve got your bfp. I often think of those still on the infertility board but it doesn’t feel right to post there as I know some find it triggering.

@mrsw88:  I did get my BFP! I found out on Christmas Eve. Best Christmas present ever!! 😭

I had a stomach flu the week before with a fever, we didn’t do any fertility meds, we only hit the fertile window once, I had zero symptoms at all, and I took a test in the evening. yet despite everything I got a positive 😭😭😭 I am still in such shock, I just can’t believe it. I never thought it would happen naturally for us! I’m still very scared it won’t work out because my tests aren’t super dark  for 18dpo but I’m going in for beta and progesterone chexk tomorrow so maybe the numbers will be reassuring.

@Equine_Breeder:  oh I’m so happy for you. What an amazing Christmas present and a huge bonus that it was without treatment. I have everything crossed that this is your sticky rainbow. Looks like your lines are progressing so try not to read too much into it. Keep us updated on your results.
