Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well.  I have an appt thurs but the one after that I believe I have to get my tdap shot and flu shot. My due date is November 28th and I believe most of us on here will be having winter babies. With that said…..my doctor said me and dh need flu and tdap shot. Also Anyone caring for baby will need tdap shot. She also recommends anyone coming around the baby has the flu shot especially before she gets her 8 week shots. She did say it may be hard to manage but it’s up to me . it’s her recommendations as we live in PA and its defiantly flu season around the time I’ll have my baby. So anyways what is all of your thoughts on having people who see your baby gets vaccinated before they are 8 weeks? Another issue is we will have our baby during Christmas season so I think lots of ppl will wanna stop by. I was thinking of limiting it until the baby is older then 8 weeks or maybe I’m just being silly? Was thinking friends who stop by as long as they arent sick and wash hands will be fine. But dh and my family dont live close so if they visit and I’m sure they will want to for Christmas and to see baby will have to stay over night with us. Should I ask them to get the shots? They also have kids which I know kids can be germy and I dont mean that in a mean way….its just they can be. Maybe I’m over thinking it! Any thoughts? What are you all planning on doing, especially those of you who live in the snow belts states or somewhere where flu season could be an issue. Lol so much to think about!! Never even thought about this stuff until my doc mentioned it!!

tiffanybruiser :  I was thinking of people who stopped by for 30 mins that they could just wash their hands as well but anyone that will be staying the night like our parents, dh parents our sisters and their family who will be staying with is for multiople nights early on…..I may want them to get their shots. I know my family will be fine with it….I am kind of thinking sil may have an issue as she has always been against the flu shot. Was thinking of talking to the doctor with dh about this and if we still feel strongly about this he could talk to his sil? My family never has had a flu shot either but they already told me they would do it no problem. Maybe so would sil? My doc told me I am getting the tdap, flu shot, and rhogam shot at my 27 -28 week appt unless I misunderstood and they told me dh needs it before baby comes. I’m sure yours will bring it up. Let me know what they say it is interesting to see how other facilities do things.

candy08 :  Here we are on the same appt schedule again, my next appt is Thursday too (22 weeks today). In regards to the flu shot, I have gotten it every year for the last 5 years because they offer it free at work, otherwise I wouldn’t get it. I will probably do the same this year. But you bring up a good point about everyone else, both of our families are from out of town and will most likely try to come down for the holidays (I’m due 12/10), I am definitely going to ask my doc on Thursday about what he recommends. My little brother was a preemie and caught RSV at like a month old and was in the hospital for days, it was super scary for us.

sunshineglam :  We are always on the same schedule!! Yes we always get a flu shot….but not the tdap but I’m fine whatever shot they need to give me.  How have you been feeling? Have you felt the baby move yet? Totally fine if you haven’t as it can take up to 24 weeks to notice movement. Just curious. I have felt mine from time to time but pretty much almost daily the last few weeks. I only feel her if I am laying still though!

ROLL CALL:

Your age/your partner’s age:  36/40

Baby #: 2

How far along are you/when’s your due date?  4+3, EDD 4/11/18

What is your TTC/MC history?  MMC with my first pregnancy in Dec 2014 at 10w (baby stopped growing at 6w, though we’d seen a heartbeat).  BFP in March 2015, relatively uncomplicated (though stressful) pregnancy, and our daughter was born in December 2015.  Just started TTC #2 and got a BFP on the first cycle… and now the anxiety sets in.

Having any symptoms?  Sore boobs, peeing more, bloating, beginnings of nausea, fatigue

What’s the next milestone for you in this pregnancy?  Drs appt 8/30 at 8w.  It feels SO far away.  Contemplating calling to ask for an u/s at that appt, or maybe asking to go in for one around 6w… during my pregnancy with my daughter, I shared how worried I was since it was right after a MMC and they did HCG levels and then an early u/s around 6 or 7 weeks.

Any coping strategies for dealing with the anxiety that comes with pregnancy after a loss?  Reminding myself that today, I’m pregnant.

What are you most excited about with this pregnancy?  Feeling movement!  Meeting our second baby and seeing my daughter become a big sister.

Any babymoon plans??  Nope!  We have a 2.5yo and a fixer-upper house that needs all of our time and money.

candy08 :  My daughter was due Nov 29 (though she arrived fashionably late on Dec 9).  We asked immediate family to get a flu shot and make sure they were up to date on vaccinations.  For everyone else, we asked them to wash their hands and not visit if they had any symptoms of illness.  My best friend didn’t meet my Dirty Delete until she was a month old because she was battling a cold.  It’s definitely a little stressful to have a winter baby with all the germs around, but they’ll be ok!

Hi All! I had my 24 week appt today and all was good! I felt my little girl hiccup yesterday too. It was pretty neat. I asked my doc about having ppl get the tdap and flu shot who will see the baby before 8 weeks and she strongly recommended that we not let anyone see the baby unless they have had the tdap and flu shot until baby is 8 weeks and has had her shots. That includes ppl just stopping by. Apparently we have had some bad out breaks of whooping cough so I think that’s why. She said it may upset ppl but would I rather have an irritated friend or family member or a sick baby? She said they can obviously choose not to get vaccinated they will just have to wait a few extra weeks to see the baby to be safe. I think im going to listen to my doc and have dh talk to his family. Mine is all on board with getting vaccinated but dh sister may be more difficult but we shall see. I think it really depends on what time of year u have the baby and where you are located for the vaccines. I’m thinking some areas it may not be a big deal.

Also I’m still not showing a lot and asked my doctor about this. She wasnt concerned at all and said the baby is only a pound and a half so she wouldnt expect me to be that big yet. So anyone who has annoying ppl in their lives who make comments on how small their belly’s are daily…. just know u r prob fine! I think if you are bigger you are fine too…..it has a lot to do with genetics and body types. Just annoyes me so much that since becoming pregnant ppl feel it is acceptable to make comments on my belly!! Ok end rant!! How are all you ladies doing? (Sorry for any typos I am writing this from my phone!)

candy08 :  congrats on a great 24 week appt! And thanks for sharing what your doc said. I asked my doc the same question last week and he wasn’t as strict as your doc, he just said that he recommended that people who spend extended time with her has the flu shot (he definitely said my husband and I both need the flu and TDAP though). I talked to hubby and we are both on the same page on not doing anything for Christmas this year and not having family over as we will probably have a 2-3 week old. I asked my mom about the flu shot and she wasn’t really keen on getting it, I really don’t want to take that chance either so people will just have to wait to meet her.

Yes, I agree with you 100% on the belly size, I don’t know why people fell they need to comment on these things, big or small! One of the ladies in my prenatal yoga class mentioned this last week and we all came to the same conclusion, just keep your mouth shut! I felt super huge for weeks and now for the last week I am starting to get self consious about how small my belly is, but you are right, all body types are different and as long as my doc says shes healthy I’ll take it!

But in general doing well, finally decided on a baby shower date, got our infant car seat and I have been filling her closet with adorable clothes. I think I finally am at that happy 2nd trimester phase and trying to convince hubby to go on this babymoon to Bermuda next month, cross your fingers he agrees! Hope all you ladies are doing well!

candy08 :  ok so the above message worked so guess I will post again.

Congrats on a good 24 week appt! The new movements are always fun, I have finally got used to my little girl moving and it doesn’t feel as creepy anymore. I actually asked my doc the same question when I went to my appt last week and while he wasn’t as strict as your doc (he said it would be nice if people would get the flu shot but don’t make a huge deal about it) he did say that hubby and I have to get the flu and TDAP vaccines. I am still going to err on the side of caution though and keep most peope away from her until she gets vaccinated, I just don’t want to take the risk of a lot of people around during the holidays tracking their germs in. I can already tell my mom isn’t happy (she has told me she doesn’t like getting the flu shot) but at least hubby and I are on the same page.

Don’t worry too much about not showing, every body carries differently and if your doc says you and baby are good, don’t think twice about it! We actually had this talk in my prenatal yoga class last week, a lot of the women have been getting comments from strangers both ways (big/small) and we all concluded that it is best to just not say anything. No one has said anything to me but I know it is coming as my belly rounds out more, I obviously look pregnant but I don’t think most people who don’t know me notice anything other than a huge belly.

AFM, 23+1 today and doing well, finally feeling that 2nd trimester rush of energy (and serious reduction in anxiety), I have been back in the gym and eating healthier which has helped my mood a lot. Plus, she has been kicking daily so that reassures me that she is alright in there 🙂 We are also starting a lot of the real planning now, our car seat came, we ordered the stroller, I have been buying clothes like a mad woman, we even started our diaper stock up. Next up on my agenda is planning this babymoon for next month!

I hope all ladies are doing well and staying positive!
