You should be careful with salicilic acid.  Have you tried any natural approaches? Apple cider vinegar works really really well for acne – mix it with sugar or salt to make a face or body scrub.  Dilute it with a little water to use as a toner.  It’s ph balancing so it will dry up any breakouts without over drying your skin.  When I was ttc and knew most acne medications were out, I went this route and have been happy with the results ever since!!

My doctor has said that benzoyl peroxide is totally safe during pregnancy, so that’s what I use for my face. I’ve tried everything natural under the sun and it doesn’t cut it for my kind of facial acne. So, Bridal Party it is. However, I will say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how well witch hazel has worked for my neck and chest. On the days that I don’t shower, I just gently cleanse those areas with witch hazel on a cotton ball, and they’re staying almost totally clear.

Salicylates can cause premature closure of the PDA (in the heart) in babies, it’s why aspirin isn’t allowed. Who knows how much is actually absorbed with topical acne treatments (I’m sure someone knows but I’m not going to look it up)- so it’s frowned upon because it could be dangerous.

I am also a big SA fan but had to give it up. It’s hard to find alternate acid products!

– Dermadoctor has a good glycolic/lactic toner which I have really liked.

– My dermatologist RX me azelaic acid cream (safe in preg).

No salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide ok. I went to dermatologist and got clindamycin ointment when I was pregnant.

I ditched my acne products when I got my bfp. When I was 14 weeks my face & neck was breaking out in huge cystic acne (I struggled with this before I went on bcp).  I tried lush’s tea tree toner spray and it pretty much keeps my skin looking decent, which was a relief. 🙂

Hey bee 🙂 I was so desperate for something to work I tried it all and spent a ton!! I have pretty good skin overall with the occasional pimple, but my first symptom of being pregnant was HORRIBLE acne all over my chin, cheeks and jawline. I finally found this product called “Belli skin care” that is specifically for pregnancy. It is recommended by dermatologists and OBGYN’s as well. They’ve got a whole line of a exfoliating scrub, face wash, moisturizer, etc. I ordered it all and oh my god what a difference!! Of course it’s all natural ingredients all safe for baby since its specific to pregnancy skin. Only downfall, and I read it in the reviews, it doesn’t smell that great. So if smells make you sick, it might be hard. I read a lot of girls saying they couldn’t stomach the smell. I didn’t have any morning sickness at all so it was fine for me. I hope if you give it a go, it gives you the same results it gave me. Good luck!!

I use tea tree oil for my mild acne…it’s natural and works really well to get rid of my acne. I’ve had acne since I was 13…I’m 30 now. I tried everything. Salicylic acid didn’t work, Bridal Party just dried out my skin. Tea tree oil is amazing. The body shop sells a whole acne line with tea tree oil in it. Absolutely amazing results from it.
