MamaWilson :  Hi! I think we may be in the same fb group.. I have been dealing with some major anxiety myself though your fears seems unrelated to mine.

I live in the states and I think if I were to travel my fear wouldn’t be so much about gun control but rather the flu which has been hitting us hard. So many germs out there if you are to travel, especially by plane.  Though I imagine you will be traveling by land, not air?

As for gun control/terrorism… We are technically at risk every single day of our lives of being caught up in a tragedy whether accident or a targeted attack but we cannot live in complete fear.  So I say take calculated risks and do not stop living.  If you feel going to Seattle will cause so much anxiety that you will be unable to enjoy yourself then don’t go.  There will be more concert’s and opportunities down the line.  Do what you are most comfortable with at this time.

MamaWilson :  I live about the same distance from the border and Seattle is a pretty chill city! Worrying is natural but keeping yourself from fun things will just make it worse.  Go and have some fun!

MamaWilson :  I actually did not get the flu shot this year (nervous grin).  At this point I am going to forgo it but I did put off traveling to FL by plane to be cautious.  Two hours from Seattle is not a large distance.  I have to admit I am not familiar with gun control laws in Canada. I would not think Seattle is a highly targeted area.

If you go scope out the venue, take notice of exits, maybe even opt to situate yourself near one?

Oh jeeze, yes.. someone falling on you or you falling is probably much more likely than an act of terrorism.

As for the flu shot, the last one I got was two years ago and you know what, that year I got the flu.  My OBGYN hasn’t even asked me if I had the vaccination so I figured if it was a must she would have addressed the topic with me.

I went to a concert at 7 months pregnant, and I regretted it so much.  This huge drunk guy kept bumping into me/leaning on me/falling on me in the line on the way in.  My husband nicely asked him to be careful because I was pregnant.   The guy then became aggressive and was threatening violence toward my husband and me.  The guy finally stopped when his girlfriend threw herself between us and the guy, but I was terrified.  Once we got in, we were okay, but the lines for the bathroom were terrible and not fun when pregnant.  Would not do it again.  (It was a Zac Brown Band concert, which I did not think would be dangerous.  Prior to pregnancy, I was used to going to punk rock shows with mosh pits and have never had a problem.  There were a bunch of families and little kids there.  Boy was I wrong.)

I’m in the UK so guns wouldn’t be my first thought when deciding, but actually I would be more concerned about getting pushed around by drunk/excited people and therefore wouldn’t go for that reason. I’ve already declined a Horse Racing Meeting this year despite doing this a few times a year usually, because I know how busy it gets and how drunk people get…particularly when the horses are coming in to the finish line people start leaping around!

Sorry to give you another factor to worry about!
