Hello, guys. I’m really anxious about something and i need opinions. My period is being late and im really scared.
The last normal cycle i had was october (Always 30-31 days). November my period was 6 days late. Then december it was 5 days late (it came on 30th). Now it’s 6th feb and still no period, which means its 7 days late today. My boyfriend and i had unprotected sex for a minute or so on 24th january. I think i was supposed to be ovulating, but i cant know for sure. The thing is, he had just gotten out of the shower, everything was washed (you know what i mean by “everything”). At first we didnt use a condom. Now i’ve got my usual pms symptoms, but i feel weird. My breasts are tender, swollen, heavy and they kind of hurt. When i was having my normal cycles, my breasts usually got tender and painful. Maybe it’s all in my head, but they hurt differently now. (Oh, and, in november when my period was late, i was super panicked and thought everythig hurts in a different way and im pregnant. Well, i wasnt.) Im bloated, too. Once again, this is usually a sign of my period coming. I had an awful acne a week ago. Usually, i get one-two pimples. Also, these past 2 days i’ve had really mild cramps, as if my period is about to start. But it isnt. Today my head hurts a little. And i’ve had a discharge for around 5-6 days. Also, december i went twice to a gynecologist because something on the lower right side of my stomach was hurting really bad. One if the doctors said my right ovary is polycystic.
My intuition tells me there’s nothing to worry about, that im just going through a phase where my period is irregular and i need to get checked. But then again, i think “well what if my intuition is wrong, what if im actually pregnant?”.
Please, don’t give me hateful comments like “why did you have uprotected sex if you dont want a baby”. Admit it, everyone has done this in a moment when they didn’t want a child..
Any opinions? Should i be worried? Anyone who thinks im having irregular cycles? Or my newly found PCOS is causing the delay? Please, help me out. And thank you, ladies.

This is why pregnancy tests were invented. If your period is late because of pregnancy, you will get a positive result on a test. You could have already peed on one and solved your dilemma in the time it took to write this post. Just buy a test and pee on it…..

Are you saying you haven’t had a period since December? Just go take a test. I take a test if I’m more than two days late just to ease my anxiety.
You had unprotected sex. Go take a test so that you can make an informed decision. If you want to terminate, you’re about to miss your chance. If you’re keeping it, you need to be taking your vitamins and going to the doctor in order to support that baby of yours.
Stop avoiding.

norealname : Then test again until you get your period. It’s not rocket science. Tests are very accurate. Opinions from random strangers on the internet are not.

…did you take a pregnancy test???? If you’re pregnant enough to have pregnancy symptoms you’re pregnant enough for a positive test.

norealname : Couple things:
1) What did your doctor tell you about your cysts? Did they say anythig about PCOS and a treatment or management plan?
2) If you period is late, it is definitely not too early to test, and you don’t *have* to test early in the morning. You can test any time of day, just give yourself a decent, non-diluted hold
3) Unless you test, no one here can really help you. It’s all speculation at this point. But, if you’re not pregnant; don’t just let it go… I would follow up with your DR about the potential PCOS so you can get a better understanding of it

norealname : So go take one anyway. If your partner didn’t ejaculate inside you then pregnancy is pretty unlikely…usually a key to getting pregnant.

fromatoz : my doctor basically told me in the most calming voice “your right ovary is polycystic” and that was it. As if it’s nothing… Im extremely scared to even go buy a test…

From everything you have described it sounds like you have a hormonal imbalance and your periods are irregular. Delaying a pregnancy test IMO would just increase anxiety. Put your mind at ease, test.

norealname : Well you’re causing yourself unnecessary panic by sitting her speculating. There’s no reason to sit here fueling the anxiety fire with Google and the Bee when you oculd easily go find out by getting a test and resolving the worry.

norealname : if your cycle is irregular it could be weeks before your period shows up. Take a test and put your mind at ease.

norealname : Totally agree with all the advice given above. I’m sorry this makes you anxious but the only way to know for sure is to test. It’s quick and will give you an actual answer. I take it you aren’t trying to get pregnant? If you are that worried about getting pregnant, maybe you should always use some form of protection. It’s worth the peace of mind instead of worrying every month. Or if you don’t want to use protection, maybe at least start charting so you know when you are ovulating and you can chart to avoid getting pregnant.
