20 weeks, but I realize that is an unusual amount of time to wait πŸ˜‰

Well the thing is….I wanted to wait and it kinda got out. I am only 11 weeks.

I have to disclose that information at my work, since it focuses around hazards that can harm a fetus and potentially cause a miscarriage. So I told them right when I found out.

I usually always get a beer when I hang out with friends. This time I turned down a beer. One girl was really confused. “Are you pregnant??!!” I can’t lie….so out it went…

and eventually gossip led to everyone finding out. I made sure to let the parents know right away, so they wouldn’t be left in the dark.

@funkymunky85:  Honestly, I guess I am not really dissapointed. I did not really know how I was going to share that information anyway. And sadly, even though I am 11 weeks….. it is pretty obvious when you look at me lol… :-/

I find that alot of women do keep the secret until 14-16 weeks. I’ll probably do the same as I had a miscarriage previously at 13 and half weeks. My whole famliy knew and some friends and it was very difficult to go back and tell them of the unfortunate news….

@funkymunky85:  I had a prior loss, I also wanted my parents to know first and I didn’t get around to telling them for awhile because in my mind I’m still a 16 year old who is scared to tell them anything (they were thrilled as it turned out). Also I rationalized that by telling people at the halfway point I would avoid the Jessica Simpson “You’ve been pregnant FOREVER!” thing. People have actually said “I can’t believe how fast your pregnancy has flown by!” which is a good thing in my mind πŸ™‚

I have never been pregnant, but I do have some advice:  Do not tell ANYONE until you want EVERYONE to know.  FI’s cousin just found out she was pregnant three weeks ago and she wanted to wait until twelve weeks.  But, she told a few people here and there, and within days, everyone in her extended family, friend circle, and work knew.  People started writing on her FB wall, “Congratulations!”  She had to keep erasing those posts and contacting people to let them know she wasn’t announcing yet.  But, it ended up being pointless, so she just went ahead and announced to the few who didn’t know.

I think the reception announcement thing is cool.  Idk what you guys are doing for your reception, but you could have a slideshow of you and your Darling Husband and at the end put up an ultrasound pic??

I’m 14 weeks now. We waited until 12 weeks to go “public,” but had already told:

1. My immediate supervisor at work (although not my real boss)–haha, I spilled the beans the day I found out due to some work hazards

2. Our parents and siblings–parents at 5 weeks, siblings at 8

3. Some close friends spread out, but all past 8 weeks except one friend who was recently pregnant and who told me early on–I wanted her support because I knew she would understood. Very few of my friends have had children, but I knew she’d understand.

After our NT screening, I told my real boss, the principals at the schools I work at (I’m contracted out, so they aren’t my bosses, but I still felt it was important for them to know) and then everyone at work, my grandma and aunts, his grandparents, and some friends we’d been waiting to tell.

We still haven’t gone Facebook public. I’ve made it clear to everyone that I will post something when I’m ready for it to be on Facebook, and so far no one has slipped. I think after my 16 week appointment, I’ll probably post something, although I might wait until Week 20 when we know the gender–but that seems sooo far away πŸ™‚
