Hey all. Not sure if this is the right board to be on as I’m not charting or any of that, we’re basically NTNP and I have a tipped uterus and one fibroid for a little background.
My husband and I decided that I’d not take the pill anymore after my withdrawal bleed which was June 14th – 20th, so I’ve been off BC since June 7th.
June 26th I noticed I was having some pain in my lower abdomen like something was sticking me and that lasted a few minutes. It was painful enough for me to notice it and go “Ow, what’s that!”
July 3rd and I feel a bit nauseous, also the 4th, 5th and this morning and I noticed a bit of blood when the nausea started, not bright red, but it’s like… slimy with stringy looking blood when I wipe. TMI I guess but not sure how else to describe it and that’s never happened to me before so made me wonder. My nipples are also very sore.
I usually do not have sore nipples or spot before periods so it’s why all this is raising a flag to me. I also have some type of low grade fever but don’t feel sick in general or like I’m having a cold. Just feel warmer than usual and my husband notices it also.
What do you think? Next period is due around July 12th. I usually have 26-28 day cycles.

ChaiSpice : Honestly, if it’s pregnancy symptoms, it’s more than likely you would get a BFP now or very soon. Its honestly hard to tell if it’s pregnancy symptoms… Especially since you’re just getting off of BC. So many symptoms you’ve “never had before” can easily be normal. Best of luck! I hope you do get your BFP!

To me it sounds like your cycles are just messed up from coming off BC. The slimy/stringy mucus is generally either a sign of ovulation or of your period starting. BUT take that with a grain of salt because that is my experience. Every single woman has a different cycle and their body reacts differently to coming off BC and to becoming pregnant. The only way for you to know is to test. Good luck!

Could be pregnancy, could be your period. The symptoms you listed can apply to either scenario. The only way to know is to take a test. You can try a FRER with FMU in the next few days.

i didn’t start spotting until i started ttc. i had perfect 28 day cycles for 4 months after i stopped the pill. then after that 4 months, we started ttc and things went wonky. i would spot 2-5 days before 24-28 day cycles. i was all over the place. i felt like a was bleeding most the month.
it ended up taking us 2 years, 2 meds, 3 iuis, and 2 ivfs to conceive DS.
i would say your body is getting used to coming on BCP.
the big question would be did you ovulate, and did you have sex around ovualtion?

Thanks ladies. I will wait and see if AF makes an appearance, I think it might be me coming off the BC. I’ve come off it before but not with these symptoms but could be my older body doing different things now lol
ajillity81 : Not sure, I didn’t do any tests to check, didn’t get a chance to really. The only thing I have is my period calendar app and it just gives you an approximate date for ovulation but not sure how accurate that would be. I’m in the caribbean so I have to check if they have the OPK tests here at the pharmacy.

If you have real pregnancy symptoms you will have a positive test. The only thing I had before my BFP was menstrual-like cramps. Both pregnancies I thought my period was about to show up because I got cramps. Plus a big increase in cervical fluid instead of AF. Those those happened like a day or two before my BFP

ChaiSpice : I’d find the closest pharmacy and grab a test.

starfish0116 : My husband asked me today if I did so maybe I should. I was going to wait til next week to see if AF came.

The month I got my BFP, I didn’t analyze every “symptom” like I usually had. The only thing that stood out was that my temp stayed high instead of dropping like it usually did.

Kacie209 : Good to know. I’ve never had symptoms or even a pregnancy scare before so differences in my body has just raised a flag is all 🙂 We only are now NTNP so I just thought ya know.. maybe some other ladies have some advice.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

FWIW, the first month I was off BCP my hormones went completely nuts. Increased sense of smell led to me feeling nauseated all the time, so I couldn’t stand to eat. I had severe back pain, extreme irritability, etc. Once I ovulated (way later than my app predicted) most of that went away, and was quickly replaced by true PMS symptoms (acne mostly). Everyone is different! Also keep in mind that just because your cycles were 28 days while on the pill doesn’t mean they’ll be 28 days off the pill, since the pill was causing that schedule.

If these are pregnancy symptoms you’ll get a positive test! Go and get one and report back!
