I feel the same away about this as I do about those who post that their child pooped in the potty…that it’s gross and unncessary (and yes, I do hide the posts).

LOL, that is so bizarre. People tend to massively over-share about pregnancy/babies/etc. on Facebook, though.

People are just losing touch with common sense and cant tell the difference between things that they should and shouldnt share with the facebook community

@artbee: Me too. Whenever I see them I think “eww…pee pee stick.” Mature, I know.

So what if they peed on it? I mean, presumably it has dried since then and now it’s just a cool test! You know, the baby is gonna come out of her vagina eventually – do you not want to see pictures of the kid because of how it was created? 😛

@BrightGreen:  Ideally? Yeah, probably, but I’m not a big fan of babies, so…;P

@Mrs Grape: Completely agree. It’s like an epidemic or something. I prefer to undershare on FB. I don’t need or court the attention of friends like some people do. I’m happy to live my life under the FB radar. Somebody in the baby announcement thunder stealing thread suggested closing your wall while in labor. I’m filing that away as a must do in the future. It’s a way to impose etiquette and I like it.

@Mrs Grape: Haha, well technically that’s two different things! Although I think the next time a friend has a baby you should definitely comment on their first photo with “Ewww! That thing was just in your uterus!” lol

Not a fan, I don’t want to see something you peed on. Also, I always wonder did you JUST find out in which case I think its risky to share with everyone you know or did you save a pic of a pregnancy test for 3 months just so you could post it to facebook.

I personally don’t want to see what anyone peed on.  If you REALLY need to put up the photo, just show me the two lines.  For some reason, that would make me feel better than seeing the whole thing.

Yeah, a friend of mine just did that last week. I guess I didn’t think about it that way, but she had just found out that day and told everybody on fb. I dont’ think I’d be comfortable until I was out of the first trimester, but she was getting sick at work and she was worried they would say something on fb, so that’s why she posted it. So I can see i guess in that circumstance

i wouldn’t. I’d be more likely to do something goofy like buy this shirt, put it on my dog, and post a pic of it on fb. hahaha.

So here’s a question – are these people who’re posting the test stick on FB posting it as soon as they find out? I mean, I assume you don’t keep the stick around for several weeks until you are in the second trimester. I had always heard it was best not to announce until you were in the second trimester, because of the high rate of miscarriages in the first trimester. So I’m just wondering about the logistics of this. I guess they could take a picture in anticipation of announcing it later, but that would mean they are really putting a lot of forethought into eventually posting something that they had peed on on the internet. Which is a little creepy, I think.

If the time comes for me to announce something like this on FB, I think a simple text-based status update will do just fine.

@Bubu82: my guess is they aren’t keeping the stick itself around but they probably just have a pic of it they post after the 1st trimester is over. although some people do announce immediately. ballsy.
