I was reading the new life&style magazine today and found that Jessica Simpson claimed to have gained over 100lbs during pregnancy. Fi and I were just curious (because although we know every woman is different and for different circumstances, that 100lbs gain sounds like a lot) because we will soon be getting married and TTC concieve ourselves how much have you ladies gained during your pregnancy and was it easy or hard to get back down to yoour pre-pregnancy weight?
I think i saw a post about this before but couldnt track it down.

I can’t really vote in the poll yet, since I’m only 26 weeks and have 14 weeks left to go. At this point i’ve gained between 16 and 20 pounds depending on the scale I use. I would say at this rate i will probably gain around 35 lbs total. It’s weird though because honestly I don’t know where the weight is. My face, arms and legs are all still the same size. We’ll see!

My first pregnancy I gained 28 lbs this time I have gained 27 lbs at almost 38 weeks but I have been at this weight for a few weeks so hopefully I can just stay here lol…

I’m still pregnant (30wks), but I’m somewhere between 2-4lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost about 10 in the first trimester, though.
I read that Jessica Simpson was eating things like buttered poptarts, though, and if that was usual I can’t say I’m terribly surprised she put on so much.

I’m still pregnant as well and 34 weeks tomorrow. So far I’ve gained somewhere around 25-27 pounds. I’m hoping not to go over 35 lbs at the absolute most but we’ll see where I end up. Sometimes at the doctor I stay the same and sometimes I’ll gain about 3-4 lbs so I’m not sure how it’ll play out from here.

I’m 37 weeks and have gained 27 lbs so far – hoping it hangs out here until the little one arrives! I think our bodies are pre-disposed to gain a certain amount of weight (different for each person obviously) but I think if you eat like Jessica Simpson claimed to eat, you’re bound to gain a ridiculous amount.
ETA: I voted in the 20 – 30 lbs category even though I’m not done with pregnancy quite yet. I would be very surprised if I gained more than 3 – 4 lbs in the next three weeks (and don’t even anticipate gaining that but you never know!)

There is no way she gained 100lbs…no way…she looked large in her photos, but not 100 extra lbs large…but perhaps I’m wrong.
Generally, women don’t gain weight in their first tri (morning sickness) and begin to gain in the second. In the third trimester its common to gain 1lb/week.
For underweight women, they should gain 35-45lbs. For over weight women, generally 10-15lbs (like, obese women) and for normal-weight women, anywhere from 15-30ish lbs.

I’m overweight already so it is common for women to lose, so I lost 20lbs the first 4-4.5 months, but then went on bed rest and gained it all back 🙁
I have 2 friends that are around 130lbs. 1 gained 50-didn’t lose much after-even still 4yrs later, 1 gained 70-lost almost all after within a year :-/
Another friend was never over 110. She gained 40lbs, lost it all after. 7 years later, she is currently 30wks prego with her 2nd and has only gained about 22. But they say all the wait comes in the last 2 months so we shall see :-/ And it is harder the older you are (so people say)
My sister is another one who was around 110-115, gained 40lbs but ate everything!!!! She always had a sporty type figure. But then had my nephew and now has a booty & hips she never had before. It took her about 2 years to lose her weight. And my sister breast fed and people say that is supposed to help.
So, after this novel lol! The point is there is no easy way to say :-/ Just go by what your Dr says. Don’t go out eating a Snickers and a Cherry Pepsi everyday at lunch like my sister did!! After all you don’t technically eat for 2 until the last 2 or 3 months I do believe. And you have to keep in mind big babies, my friend that didn’t lose the weight, her baby was almost 11 lbs (I shudder since mine was 5lbs 14oz). Jessica Simpsons was 10 so I don’t know.

@Miss Orchard: I think I read earlier that she said her weight gain was somewhere between 65-75 pounds.

During my first pregnancy (over 10 years ago!), I gained nearly 40 pounds. I just hit the 20 pound mark for this pregnancy, and I’m almost 30 weeks along. So I *think* I’m in good shape…I’m hoping to keep it around 30 pounds.

I gained 17 pounds my first pregnancy and 14 my second. I was overweight before I conceived my second child. Since giving birth the second time, I have lost it all plus 17 pounds.

39 weeks on Monday, I’ve gained 14 pounds. I was overweight going into the pregnancy. I had NOT intended to get pregnant before shedding some weight but oh well. I know Jessica Simpson is a celebrity and all and normally I have attitude that famous people should just deal with the exposure, but I felt so terrible for her and the comments people made during her pregnancy. “She’s huge, she’s fat, she’s a porker, she’s a pig” etc. Did she seemingly have the healthiest pregnancy eh I guess not. It seemed like cruelty towards a pregnant woman just for the sake of being cruel.

@KatyElle: I totally agree, I thought the comments about Jessica Simpson were wayy over the top.
Not PG yet, just wanted to respond to that comment haha
