DH and I are taking a trip for our anniversay to Charleston and Myrtle beach and it just so happens that it will also be a babymoon. I go to the doctor the 20th of this month for my first appointment and we leave for vacation the 21. I’ll be 8 weeks 5 days then so I’m hoping that this constant nausea that I have recently been experiencing subsides by then. =)
We were both a little worried (him more than me) that maybe we should be saving our money since LO will be here before we know it, but I see this as our last vacation that will be just the two of us and I really want to enjoy that time =)

YAY! My husband saw a deal on Living Social Escape this morning and we both agreed it’s a good idea to go away somewhere warm and tropical before the baby arrives.
Just a couple days, just him & I, just relaxing!
I’m thinking February because we’ll be home for Christmas then home again in January for Chinese New Year. I’ll be about 5/6 months is that still a OK time to go?

I went on a babymoon; it was great. We went to the Dominican Republic for a few days. I was about six months along, so not too big yet, but showing enough that I got special treatment. At the airport they let us skip the line for security, a nice flight attendant gave us seats in the exit row, and in DR I even go to skip to the front of the line at a store! It was very relaxing to just be on the beach.
I recommend you go somewhere just the two of you before baby comes, even if just for a weekend!

My BF did this with her first. At her 5 month mark since she couldn’t travel past that point so they went to barbados. I would love to plan something like this.

Not really, we took a long weekend to the mountains last weekend which was nice. I guess our real babymoon was our late first anniversary trip that caused said baby- a Caribbean cruise.
We are going for a week to the midwest around 30 weeks for a family wedding and our shower, but I rarely consider anything family related and in November a real vacation (now if it were August and the beach, it would count).
And last reason for not a true babymoon: saving up paid vacation for time off after the little monster arrives.

I definitely recommend one. But really low key, no real activity/itinerary…just hanging out, out of town. I went when I was 6 months and I only ate interesting things, snorkeled for 10 minutes and went on mini-walks. It was really peaceful and beautiful. Why not use it as an excuse to relax. Much needed mama will want to have nice memories (take me to a beautiful place) to draw upon in the future. Trying tough (but worth it) times ahead. *We combined it with our anniversary.

This article touches on the origins of the Babymoom:

We took one at 28 weeks. We went to the Riviera Maya in Mexico. The goal was to lay on the beach with a fruity non-alcoholic drink, but instead we did a lot of hiking and site seeing. It was great, but were I to do it over again, I would have gotten my relax on more!
We’re hoping that our Hawaii vacation this year will be a #2 babymoon… but paper pregnancies (adoption) are less predictable, so we could be going on our babymoon with a new baby!
