@Sea_bass:  I’m 11 weeks and last Tuesday I had some spotting. It was bright red. There wasn’t much but I went straight to emergency and they told me to get bed rest and stay calm and not to worry unless I had severe pain or really heavy bleeding. It was gone the next day. Also, a friend of mine had clotty bleeding for 3 days when she was 9weeks and she’s now 27 weeks preg and all is fine. Don’t stress and get some rest!

My cousin bled quite a bit in her pregnancy and has a healthy, happy 2 year old. I don’t recall if she ever got an answer as to why. Her bleeding was like a period, varying degrees of flow that lasted several days.

@Sea_bass:  that’s a tough call about your husbands party. I think only you can make that call, but think of it as your body’s way of telling you to take care of yourself. If you went and something happened, would you blame yourself or do you think you could understand that there’s nothing you could do? Have you told your husband? You could always go for a little while then fein illness and leave early? You’re definitely not alone Hun, feel free to pm me if you ever want to talk. X

@Sea_bass:  You are probably fine, everything I’ve read about pregnancy has said that pink / brown discharge is totally normal. If it turns red though, go to the doctor ASAP – not necessarily because you would be miscarrying, lots of women bleed and are fine. But because if it is blood from the baby (i.e. from minor or severe placenta previa), and it has mixed with yours, you might need an Rh shot to prevent future pregnancies from being jeopardized by the antibodies your blood would create, depending on the blood type of you and your husband. I think the window is something like 48 hours between when you start to bleed and when you need the Rh shot by.

I’m sure you are fine but I totally understand the worry. I’m the most paranoid person ever and I always assume the worst, which is terrible because I end up worrying for nothing. Hopefully you can get an ultrasound soon so that they can ease your worries by figuring out the reason for the discharge, which is probably something totally minor.

I haven’t spotted yet, but my mother told me that she didn’t find out she was pregnant with my older brother until she was 20weeks because she had what seemed like regular period bleeding every month just a little lighter until she found out.

I had spotting from 4.5 weeks all the way till 10 weeks or so. Not always constant but here and there. Mostly pink or brown but after Bridesmaid or Best Man a couple times it was more reddish. I am 27 weeks now and everything is fine. My DR said unless it was bright red and accompanied with cramps then it was probably fine. Spotting in early pregnancy is very common.

I had the same thing around 8 weeks….it lasted a week and the doc wouldn’t see me until 10 weeks !! I even had cramps.  I had a beta done (two days waiting) and everything was fine. He said I may be in that 1% that has strange things happening for no reason…I’m now 16 weeks and have had no more spotting…good luck, everything may be just fine

I had spotting (brownish-orange color?), along with cramping at around 6.5 weeks and it turned out fine. Hoping for the best for you… I know any spotting is scary!

I spotted (brown/pink) from week 5 1/2 to week 17. I had ultrasounds and they showed I had an ovarian cyst, but we never figured out if that was the cause or not.

I had other, unrelated complications later in pregnancy, but I went on to have a full term, healthy baby girl!

I know how awful it is to spot while pregnant. Most times it is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about *hugs*

I spotted pink for a day right around eight weeks. I realized when I looked at my FF  charts that, had I not been pregnant, the day I spotted was the day AF would have shown up. Turns out that a lot of women have slight breakthrough bleeding, typicallt at 4, 8 and possibly 12 weeks right when they would have expected their periods. It apparently wanes in the second tri on account of the changing hormones. I never got the spotting at 12 weeks, but did get it at 4 and 8 weeks.

I mentioned it at my doctor’s appointment a few days after it happened any my doctor told me it was totally and completely normal and that I shouldn’t be concerned unless I saw a significant amount of frank red blood, especially if the bleeding was accompanied by cramping.

I got full blown periods the first 2-3  months of pregnancy with my twins (all though it was lighter than normal). Everything turned out fine. And with my first pregnancy I had a really heavy period (horrible cramping, heavy bleeding) the first month of pregnancy and I thought I miscarried but I didn’t. I carried my oldest son 2 weeks past due date.

I would talk to your doctor no matter what. But it is common in the first couple months of pregnancy. My doctor called it plantation bleeding or something like that. Basically its when the embryo is planting to the uterine wall it can cause some spotting.
