I am at 19 weeks and haven’t gained one pound. I’m a bit concerned about it because I’m still technically underweight. Does anyone have tips on gaining healthily?

FrenchNewlyWed:  As long as you are eating a healthy diet and getting enough calories, I wouldn’t worry about it at 19 weeks yet.  Your baby doesn’t even weigh a pound him/herself yet.  You’ll start to gain weight as the baby grows more and gains weight.  I’m 22 weeks and only up 3 pounds. If you’re really worried about it, talk to your doctor.

I’ve gained about 35 pounds now at 29weeks – bleh!! Here’s my progression chart, as you can see second trimester was ridiculous:

And here’s how the weight gain looks on me (14 weeks was mid-July):

I was at the doctor on tuesday and now am pushing 50kgs…still 49 but closer to 50. I think i will start gaining some as I ‘m hungry a bit more often, like having afternoon bowls of oatmeal and cereal and toast. Added an egg to my morning breakfast this morning. I’m more confident that my body will do what it needs to now, and will try to focus on mainly healthy foods to fill me up. I am also on modified bed rest so I’m guessing it will help with my weight.

I started bloating from water weight at only 6 weeks.  True (significant) weight gain started around week 12 or 13.

E_Lynne615:  OMG, I am sorry that you’ve gained so much weight but I am so glad that I’m not alone!  I’ve already gained 31 lbs and I’m only at week 29 too!  I pray to God this weight is mostly fluids (increased blood volume, retaining water, etc) and that it will fall off once the baby is out.  Although I look huge right now compared to you so maybe I’m gaining a lot of fat, I dunno.  LOL!

roxy821:  I was in the ‘overweight’ BMI category when I got pregnant and am 11 weeks now. I’ve lost about 8 pounds, but should start gaining again soon since the baby grows a ton during the second trimester. I’m not terribly worried about the weight loss since I was overweight to begin with and am eating healthier, and getting enough nutrition.

My doctor said that it’s normal for me to lose weight right now, and only to worry if I am having issues vomitting and/or not eating at all.
