Pregnant bees! What are you naming your baby or what names are on your list?

mrsmagnoliabee :  They do ask and our standard response is “If we told you, we’d have to kill you.” But that’s a running joke in the family (military on both sides) anyway. We told them we want to make sure it fits him before we share, and that it’s important no one forms an opinion, whether good or bad, of the name before he’s born.

The grandmothers (and great-grandmothers) were the most upset not knowing because they want to knit him things with his name on it, but I said “Nope! And this way other babies can use it too,” which seemed to placate them enough. DH’s Mom is making a quilt sampler, and tried to get his name, but she can’t finish it until she has his weight and time of birth (according to her), so she can wait for his name too.

Overall, it hasn’t been an issue because NO ONE knows but Darling Husband and I, so no one feels like someone else is more special. Oh, and our dogs, we talk to the baby with his name in the privacy of our own home to get used to it. If we happen to change it, he won’t know any better and I feel better not calling him “baby” or “nugget” for the rest of my pregnancy lol.

I’m okay with our decision to keep it to ourselves, they were lucky we even told them he’s a boy. We thought about keeping that a secret too, but felt we should tell people at least that much. The name was more special to us to keep quiet until his birth.

mrsmagnoliabee :  Oh wow! That’s an extensive list for either sex! We have such a hard time agreeing on names, we have one boy name and two girl names. 24 weeks today and team green!

I’m almost 24w with a boy, his name will be Cooper.

We had a boy name from the beginning but no girl name we could agree on. That should have been my first clue it would be a boy…lol.

I’m currently 29+3 but we’re team green so we’ve got names for both sexes.

We’re not sharing our “final” decision until birthday, but for girls we like Sloane and Elise. For boys, we like William (Liam), Griffin, and Roger (grandfather’s name, will most likely be a middle name).

We haven’t shared the names we’re considering too much, I really just don’t care to have anyone’s opinion.

We’re done having kids, happy being the awesome foursome but I was set on Olive May Surname for another girl.

God knows for a boy but maybe Alexander or Edward, something classic and *whisper it* normal

mrsmagnoliabee :  Love those names. I love love love Everett but Fiance doesn’t, Emmett is a family name on his side so if we went that direction we’d do Emmett. If we use “Aria” Fiance argues with me to spell it Arya but everytime I see it I say “ARE-YA” and it drives me bonkers…LOL. We’re pretty set on Avery if we have a girl (although I truly feel that we will have a boy, I think at least!) and we both really like Henry.

DrunkInLove :  I love the name William, but Darling Husband won’t consider it. Makes me sad.

MsPlucky :  I love it too, it’s just SO common (Will & Liam are both super popular right now and our baby would be the 4th Will/Liam in his generation in our combined family–though that includes a LOT of kids. And it’s a family name on both sides).

I’m still conflicted on it.

DrunkInLove :  It is, but it’s also so classic and timeless that it’s easy to “justify” the name because over his whole life it’ll be a great name.

It’s definitely a hard call, but choose the name you love! You’ll be calling him that for the rest of your life!

lucialucentum :  What if you named her Sela Guinevere so you get to use both? Or vice versa depending on how it would sound with your last name. I think that would sound lovely. 🙂

15 weeks and having a boy. We’ve been tossing out names left and right in the last few weeks and it’s hard for us to agree. I think we have a possible name now but I’m not set on it yet. There’s still 6 mos to decide!

Not TTC yet, but we love Daisy or Emmeline for a girl (middle name Simone), and Noah or Elijah for a boy (middle name Gordon). We might end up going team green as well. I feel like I could name a hundred baby girls and about 3 boys, girls names are so much easier!

sapphire27 :  I feel exactly the same way! We are planning on TTC soon and have so many girls names that we agree on but not a single boy name. My husband vetos all the ones I like!

We love Aria (a little worried about the popularity of that one though), Juliet or Julia, Chloe, Claire, and Audrey.

When we are actually pregnant we absolutely won’t be sharing our name choice with anyone and we won’t be sharing the sex either. Which might be a bit tricky because my SIL is pregnant now and her and my brother are sharing everything which I think sets up an expectation that we will as well. But I think everyone will get over it if we are firm about not sharing from the start.
