My cousin gave me a similar gift basket at my shower, but it was more geared towards the hospital stay (she’s a nurse). I’ll see if I can remember everything that was in it…
– unscented travel-size toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion)
– toothbrushes (one each for DH and I), toothpaste, mouth wash
– mini kleenex pack
– hair elastics
– hand sanitizer
– chapstick
– fuzzy socks
– snacks (bottled water, granola bars, fruit snacks, candy)
– gum
– a couple parenting magazines
I’m sure there were a couple more things but I’m drawing a blank right now…

It was great because pretty much everything in the basket was stuff that I would have been buying to pack in my hospital bag anyways! You could do something similar but tailor it even more towards a pregnancy-related hospital stay by adding in nursing PJs, a robe, flip flops (for the shower), nursing pads/nipple cream, back massager, hot/cold pack, etc.

Buzzing bee

I’m a Nana now but saw your post.  The last kid is 18 but I still remember wanting little pampering things.  As far as the mags on newborns, etc – she will end up on a bunch of mailing lists and get that stuff for free.  Get a great novel she would love for when baby takes a nap.  Something non-baby related that she would enjoy any other time.  Think non-baby related for mom.  Maybe a bottle of wine for when she is in the clear to have a glass!

@MissChanandlerBong:  Ah man, that sounds awesome. I’d love that.
