I had nausea and food aversions in the first trimester but I still started slowly gaining weight right away, purely due to eating a little more than usual. I’m 24 weeks now and am currently gaining what feels like an alarming amount every week. 😀

I started at the high end of overweight BMI. By 20 weeks I had gained less than 5 pounds. By the end I gained almost 35. I had a 10lb baby, 2lb placenta and lots of swelling. By 10 days PP I was only up 3lbs from my prepregnancy weight. I worked out and walked a lot while pregnant. I thinki it was the healthiest I’ve been since high school.
All this to say, you may not gain much, you may gain a lot, just eat as healthy as you can and say as active as you can.

I was pretty solidly in the healthy weight range before I got pregnant (BMI 21). I lost quite a bit of weight in the first trimester due to food aversions (9 lbs, which is a lot at 5’2”). I stopped losing weight around week 10 to 12, and got back to my pre-pregnancy weight around 16 weeks. From there, the weight gain was slow until about 20 weeks, but has been pretty steady and a bit more than I expected in the second trimester (I’m 34 weeks and currently up about 28 lbs from the pre-pregnancy weight), but my midwives are happy with it, so I’m trying not to stress.

LilliV : BeverlyGeese : This is funny to me, because for a loooong time my husband and I joked that my butt and bump were in a race in opposite directions, and my butt was winning until about 30 weeks! So funny how different bodies handle pregnancy differently! Also, I’m so glad my bump has finally overtaken the booty, lol.

I was weighed at a doctors at 5w, 8w, and 9w. Between 5w and 8w I had lost 5 pounds, and I actually didn’t have any morning sickness. However, I had gained 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas and was eating terribly and not exercising (stupid I know), and right before I got my BFP and continuing after I was eating a lot better and going on a lot of long walks. I had lost the weigh in my legs and hips were I gained it- I was feeling physically better and the baby was good, so I was happy. My weight was the exact same at 9w, however now at one day from 13 weeks, I definitely feel like I’ve gained a couple pounds in the belly and really have to dress carefully to avoid exposing my baby bump (as most don’t know we are pregnant yet)

So far I’m up 11lbs at 16+5. I was 137/5’7″ before I got pregnant. Prior to getting pregnant I ate healthy and was following the Whole30 diet. Once I got pregnant, all I craved were carbs (and those helped when I didn’t feel that great throughout the day). I think that’s one reason why I gained so much already–I hadn’t had carbs or cheese in so long! Another factor is probably my eating habits before I got pregnant. I didn’t eat breakfast, I waited for lunch which was usually small, but healthy and then for dinner I would pick because after I cooked for my husband and son it was late and there wasn’t much time for me to eat (bath, books, bed for my toddler). Anyways, I’m hoping to maintain this 11lb weight gain for as long as I can!

I wanted to report back because this was something I was really worried about. I am petite (5’4″ 114 lbs pre-pregnancy) and only gained 16 lbs throughout my pregnancy. My doctors were concerned about my size and the baby’s and had me see a nutritionist. We had multiple growth scans and they didn’t think he’d make it go 6lbs and estimated his arms and legs in the 1st percentile. Little guy was born on Wednesday – 6lbs 10oz and 19.25 inches long! Not a huge baby by any means, but a totally normal size! We were all so surprised and happy! I know it’s impossible not to worry, but everything is probably fine!

I’ve already gained 2 lbs at 6w. Right on track for 40 like my last pregnancy. Ugh. I just hold onto the weight right when I get my positive, it’s crazy. Low normal BMI to start.

I gained 6 lbs after only 6.5 weeks! I am now 9.5 weeks and my doctor says I’ve lost one pound, but I think I was just wearing lighter shoes. Gaining this much weight so soon has me a little worried but I know I need to gain some weight because I am petite. My doctor thinks the weight gain will slow down in the second trimester and then I’ll gain a lot again towards the end. She said I should gain 25-35 lbs.

4 months PP, but I can give my 2 cents. Most of my weight was gained in my last trimester.
I slowly gained until about 5-6 months. After that, it was like 8lbs. every other week (when I started my bi-weekly appointments). I was very swollen and retained a lot of water, which was probably why I gained. Prior to that, it was maybe 4lbs. a month.
I gained a total of 52lbs.

mrsl3un9 : I’m 6w4d today, and the morning sickness kicked in a few days ago. I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks ago, but I’m afraid to weigh myself! I haven’t thrown up yet and am sort of eating less, but for the first week or so I was pretty much eating like a slob 🙂
