By 18 weeks I started to have a bump. Before that it was a small but could easily just be confused for bloat (and probably was!). By 20 weeks the bump was really starting to fill out and starting to feel more firm.

HappyCatLady :  I thought I was showing at 18-20 weeks. Now I see pictures of me at that time and laugh – I had a bloat gut at best. I was truly showing in pics at 24 weeks.

I really felt like I was showing all the time between 17-18 weeks, and definitely had a solid bump by 18 weeks. Before that it would change day to day depending on bloat. Week 18 was also when all of my co-workers who didn’t already know figured it out. Currently 19 weeks πŸ™‚

It depends on the pregnancy.  My first, prob was around 12 weeks, but each one after 6 weeks.  And by 12 weeks, it was like 25 weeks with my first.

It was between 23 and 24 weeks that strangers could guess I was pregnant.  It was obvious to the world by 25 weeks.  I’m pregnant with my first.

HappyCatLady :  I think there’s two stages to showing:

    1. You are getting thick around the middle, pudgy, etc and you look different to yourself. People that know you and know you’re pregnant can tell.

    2. You definitely look pregnant to strangers as it’s unmistakeable that you’re not just fat. People ask you when you’re due, tell you you’re glowing, etc.

First one happens much sooner, second happens later. Good luck!

    MrsAKSkier :  This!

HappyCatLady :  When I look at pictures I can see my bump at around 15-16 weeks.  But it could easily be mistaken for bloat if you didn’t know I was pregnant!  I “popped” at 24 weeks, and there was no mistaking it!

Just for fun–this was my comparison at 10 weeks versus when I think I really started to show at 18 weeks (sorry for the weird cropping, wanted to keep my face out of this pictures)…so this is my definition of popping I guess πŸ™‚

I think it depends on your body type and baby. I am fairly petite and I had a few strangers commenting on my (little) bump as early as 14/15 weeks. I have been getting more consistent comments from strangers since 17/18 weeks. Everyone is different!

I’m a little heavier with a bit of a belly to start with so I wasn’t obviously showing until probably 24 weeks, my close family and friends said they could see a difference early on though. My belly never really got huge either, even at the end but it was my first pregnancy, I hear you show sooner and are bigger each time.
