Mine went through 2 pregnancies with significant weight gain and I never had to remove it. That was 20 years ago and I still have it. Doesn’t look as sexy as it did before kids, but then again none of me looks as sexy as it did before kids. It looks ok though, and on the rare occasions that my kids see it, it’s funny to see them so surprised that I had a life before they existed.

i didn’t want to take it out permanently so i just left it in through 3 pregnancies

the hole was going to stretch no matter what

this way it didn’t close up 🙂

I took mine out at about 28 weeks. I did buy a bar for pregnancy but haven’t used it.

I took mine out pretty early – I would say by about 12 weeks… I’ve heard horror stories about what can happen to the hole from the piercing (no need to repeat), and I didn’t like the way it looked since it would stick out through my tops… I wasn’t too attached to it anymore anyway, so I didn’t care to never have it again.  I’m 31 weeks now, and the hole hasn’t really changed, I could probably still put one back in if I really wanted to 🙂

I’m 28 weeks and I still have mine in. I’ll take it out if it ever hurts/for delivery but for now It’s fine. I’ve had it for 10 years. I wouldn’t be upset if it closed over but if I can keep it that would be nice.

snowflake8 :  I took mine out about 5 years ago (currently 27) and am going to start TTC in the next few months. My hole is still there 5 years later!

I took mine out at about 8 months.  I would have left it in but it felt wierd.

If you’re definitely planning on taking it out I’d just do it now and maybe it will have a chance to heal up a bit before getting too stretched out.

snowflake8 :  just a warning that if you’ve had it for 14 years it may never really close. I had mine done when I was 15, took it out at 25 (it was slowly growing out and it had gotten too shallow for my liking) and at 31 it still isn’t closed. Maybe it will finally close when I get pregnant?

My situation my be different because I’m scar prone, but I had my piercing for about 2 months before I got it removed due to infection. That was at least 12 years ago. I’ve had a hole (the top one) since then that looks like it gets dirt trapped in it. I’m 32 weeks and it’s still visible. I regret getting it done in the first place, so my opinion is if you’re planning to take it out eventually, may as well do it now before your belly button really starts stretching.

snowflake8 :  I took mine out about 6 months before we TTC’d. I now have an 8 month old and my hole is still there. Had it since I was 16 and am 32 now.
