Is anyone else really nervous about this? We have been attending a local church for the last couple of years and Dear Fiance really wants the pastor to marry us. The church requires you to go through premarital counseling sessions with the pastor that is going to marry us.
I’m extremely nervous about this, not sure why, actually, I think its the fact that we live together and have for the past 4 years. I’m feeling a little guilty and really hoping that issue does not come up. Do ya’ll have any idea what all is involved with counseling? How in depth do they get? Any advice would be welcomed!

It will depend entirely on the church/pastor/denomination. I’m being married in a Southern Baptist church, and I can say for certain that if we were living together none of the ministers would be willing to officiate. The first minister we asked refused to do it because my FH isn’t a Christian! (Actually, I’m not either, but there was no point in disillusioning him now, right?) So it’ll depend on how strict the church is. It will also depend on the pastor himself. We have a different minister officiating now, and he’s completely okay with my FH’s lack of belief. Most churches I’ve been to would have a heart attack if you asked the pastor to marry you while living together, but I was raised in strict churches so…? Good luck!
