I’ve been taking prenatal vitamins, and folic acid for about a month 1/2 almost 2 months. But we’ve only been TTC since April. Does that really matter when I started to take them? I take them every morning when I get up, but yesterday morning I missed taking my prenatal vitmain, but took my folic…
I was wondering if it’s okay if I miss a prenatal pill and a folic acid pill during the time of TTC?
Thanks loves!

You’ll be okay 🙂 Just try to remember to keep it up. One day is not going to hurt you/potential baby.

I didn’t start taking prenatals until I was actually pregnant. The pregnancy was unplanned and baby is perfectly healthy. Missing several days while TTC, I’m sure, is okay.

kmark2688: Wow! 🙂 Well, then I apparently have no problems then! I was just curious on how often you ladies take them verses not taking them. Thanks so much!

Do you definitely need to take both I.e. is there folic acid in your prenatal vitamin?

mamabricker2016: Of course it’s ok. Why wouldn’t it be? What do you think will happen?

I’ve had my vitamins at home for three months and never take them.. lol this post reminded me and I popped one. We aren’t TTC for two months still, but it doesn’t hurt to start early. Missing a day here and there won’t hurt!

SarahLulu: I have both Prenatal Vitamins and Folic acid – they aren’t combined if that is what you were asking.

mamabricker2016: I took prenatals for a long time hoping to get pregnant, and even then I missed them a few days. Actually, just before getting pregnant I was taking women’s multivitamins. I was so tired of waiting and not getting pregnant, but as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I started taking my prenatal. I think keeping a good diet is very important prior to getting pregnant. You will be fine if you miss a day or two. If you were pregnant, that would be a different story.

Even if you are pregnant, missing one day of your multi or prenatal is not a huge deal. I forgot mine all the time when I was pregnant, but usually got at least 5-6 a week. And now that I have a bitty babe and am breastfeeding, I’m even more forgetful, but I manage to get enough of them – we’re both doing fine.

mamabricker2016: I think what
SarahLulu: is asking is if both are necessary. Prenatal vitamins usually already have folic acid in them so it’s not necessary to take a separate FA vitamin.

HaaaveYouMetTed: That’s is true. Usually prenatals have the recommended amount of folic acid, so no need to take an extra pill.
