My ob/RE said it didnt really matter which one you take as long as it’s a prenatal with 800mg of folic acid instead of the usual with 400mg.  I took a prescrption one (prenate mini) cause it was cheaper with my prescription med coverage than an OTC.

bridetobe2018 :  I take Mama Bird.

I was actually on a different pre-natal last month, super gentle on the stomach, got pregnant, and it ended in a CP. After doing some research, I found that an inability to process Folic Acid can contribute to early miscarriage (aside from the much more common reason of it being a complete genetic fluke which I fully acknowledge was probably what happened.)

After that I looked for one with folate (the active version of Folic Acid) so that if it was the case, we should be in the clear now. I like that they’re preservative/soy/sugar free, gentle on the stomach despite being a 1-a-day, and have a lot of other fertility friendly ingredients while still being a well rounded multi-vitamin.

The only draw-back is that they don’t include DHA so I supplement with Nordic Naturals DHA.

I took the Rainbow something ones (and still am since I’m breastfeeding) but they taste sooo bad for that split second before they go down and make my nighttime pee neon yellowy green. 🤢

Like PP, I also take the Nordic Naturals DHA supplement. No taste issues there haha

I take the vitafusion gummies.

My stomach can’t handle all the iron in the typical prenatals.

I used to take the rainbow light one a day (until about 26 weeks) and I liked them but I found them hard to swallow. At about 26 weeks I switched to Vitafusion gummies and they taste SO much better and are much easier to take (2 gummies a day, raspberry flavor) but they have less vitamins in and don’t contain iron. For some women the no iron is a plus but im anemic so it’s more of a negative for me. I’ll stick with the gummies though now just for ease.

Smarty Pants prenatals are amazing.

They have 800mcg of folate as L-methylfolate, which is the bioavailable form of folate.

They are gummies, but not the super sticky, candy form of gummies that I can’t stand.

They don’t have Iron, as Iron can block the absorption of a lot of the other vitamins/minerals in prenatals, and really should be taken separately. (So no stomch upset issues)

They are free of GMO’s, preservatives, and most common allergens.

They taste really good.

I’ve been taking Baby & Me 2 and been great. No weird colored/smelling pee, no stomach issues, and food based. Only downside is that the pills are relatively big and you need to take two a day.

Naturemade + DHA. One pill a day with everything you need inside. 🙂 Slick coating helps it go down easier. Before that I took gummies but they didn’t have all the stuff I needed and it felt like popping candy so I didn’t trust it as much. I did a lot more research back in 2014 when I started taking them and got pregnant with D-D. Now that I’m TTC #2 I’m taking them again.
