I don’t take a mulit, but I would say no.  The biggest addition to prenatal is Folic Acid, but many now also have DHA.  I think doubling up might be too much of certain vitamins.  I would either switch or just add Folic Acid and/or DHA in a separate pill.  I’m not sure if typical multis are missing anything else vital.

no there is no need to take a multivitamin if you are taking  PNV. I take the target brand ones they are very inexpensive.

No, you don’t want to get too much of any one vitamin, and prenatals are designed to cover all your needs. Be sure to pick one that works with your body too, I’ve had a rough time finding one that agrees with me

I’ve been taking a multivitamin daily for a while now (Centrum for Women) and when I went for my preconception visit I asked my OB/GYN if I could keep taking the multi or should I switch to prenatal. She said as long as the multi had the recommended folic acid it’s totally fine. Centrum has 400mg (the recommended is 400-600mg) so I just stuck with the multivitamin.

I def would NOT double up.
