My fiance and I are planning on trying to start a family after our wedding
next October. It’s only 10 months away and I am wondering if I should be
taking any vitamins? Are you suppose to schedule a doctor appointment a
certain amount of time before trying to concieve? I want to be as healthy
as I can and do everything that I should be doing!! Reading on the internet,
it seems that everything I read tells me something different to take or not

My midwife/ob both said taking a prenatal a year before TTC is smart and will help to ready your body. I started taking them at that point.

I would start taking a prenatal now. My RE wanted me to start 6 months prior. This way you can make sure your body is in its best nutritional state. I’ve taken vitamins throughout the years because I’m a finicky eater and I know I have vitamin deficiencies.

I take a prenatal, I think it is good to get it built up in your system. I also take krill oil and eat walnuts everyday for omega 3s. Also, calcium! (I use tums right now, but really should get better calcium….soon! 🙂

I forgot to include, I take calcium/mag because my prenatal doesn’t have the daily recommended dosage. Cod Liver Oil for A and E as well as Omega 3s. And I’m on Vitamin C cause Darling Husband has a cold.

I went to my gyno a few months ago but it was my annual. I mentioned that we will probably start within the next few months and she just told me to start taking prenatal vitamins. She wrote me a script for them but they were like $40 a month so I just got target brand prenatals, which she said would be just fine, I just had to make sure it had a certain amount of folic acid in them which it didn’t so I’m taking extra folic acid. I’ve also started eating more fruits and veggies and working out more. I read “what to expect before you’re expecting” which helped a lot with questions.
