CanadianBride456:  Hmm, I didn’t have heartburn as a side effect of prenatals, but definitely had heartburn during pregnancy.  I was taking tums for some muscle spams I was having – maybe that would help you too?  Maybe you should ask your doctor just to be sure?

I think the heartburn is a symptom of pregnancy, not prenatals. You can take Tums or something similar, my doctor recommended Prilosec. Eat smaller meals, don’t drink water when you eat (drink lots of water, just not at mealtimes) and don’t lay down after eating.

CanadianBride456:  It may not be listed as a side effect but it is commonly reported. Many women find relief by changing brands.

Well, not taking your prenatals isn’t the solution. Are you actually pregnant? Maybe switch brands to one that is gentle on the stomach. The gummies are good, but they don’t have a lot of iron in them so I have to take a supplement.

Try taking them with breakfast or lunch to give yourself more time between taking them and lying down to sleep. I’ve taken a Benadryl right before bed and woke up with raging heartburn – i think it didn’t go all the way down. Anyway, I’ve had an ulcer and my doctor said wait at least 3 hours before going to sleep (among other things.) It might help.

Any multivitamin that contains Vitamin D can give you heart burn if you take them on an empty stomach.  They should always be taken with food.  Good luck!

Not from my vitamins but I get terrible heartburn in general from being pregnant.

I’ve tried taking the gummies but they make me feel like air is trapped in my chest/throat. I think it’s some type of allergic reaction that I also have to certain types of candy and foods. I hate swallowing pills, so I always prefer gummies but what I have isn’t working. Not sure what other options are out there…I’m TTC. A friend mentioned there could be a powder that you can mix with water but I haven’t looked into that.

I get horrible heartburn from certain vitamins/minerals like iron, but what’s worked for me is to take them right after eating and then immediately down a full glass of water. It worked like a charm for me, thought I’d pass it on 🙂

I was taking a prenatal that had 30mg of Iron in it…it was killing me. I’m already really sensitive to multivitamins so I needed to find something different. The other thing that I did when I found a new brand is I picked one that had all the vitamin sources from food. That has helped my stomach imensely and the heartburn, but the heartburn is a pregnancy symptom for me.

Try taking it right before bed.  I have been having awful heartburn since getting pregnant, something I have never felt before.
