Just curious to all you ladies what prenatals you are taking while TTC. I’ve just been going with an offbrand gummy (with folate and DHA) while TTC, and will probably switch to a more expensive brand after I get pregnant. Do you think this makes a difference? What brand are you taking?
I also take 4000 IU of Vitamin D, daily. (Per my OBGYN for my PCOS).

I use rainbow light mini pills. You take 3 a day but I take them all at the same time (label says it doesn’t matter). I picked it after reading some independent lab studies that showed they’re better than the average prenatal for having their nutrient content actually match the label (I guess most are wildly off). Also, it’s food/plant based. It’s not terribly expensive either.

I use the gummies. The brand doesn’t really matter that much IMO, unless you’re nutrient deficient or something. The main thing you want is the folic acid for TTC.

AwkwardCoconut : railroaderwifeyxo : lula0508 : I didn’t see DHA listed on any of these brands, do you take another supplement for this? Or do you skip it?

I take the ones from Trader Joe’s. My OB said they were great, they don’t break the bank, and you only have to take them once a day. I also take 5000 IU of D daily, plus an Rx folate supplement that has DHA and EPA in it. I’m pregnant already but this is the same as I was taking while TTC.

I use Rainbow Light (at least that’s what the bottle looks like) but it must be a different version from the poster above because I take 6 a day (3 morning and 3 at night). It’s kind of a pain and I’m going through them really fast but I’ve heard they’re really good. I used Whole Foods brand (365) before then.

MargaritaVille : I don’t take anything for DHA, but might start when I get to the third trimester when it becomes more critical. I do, however, eat a good amount of foods high in omega-3s to begin with (fish & eggs mostly)

I use Citrinatal that was prescribed by my OBGYN. With my insurance I think I pay around $20 for a 30 day supply. I have used them for a couple months now and have no complaints 🙂

I took one a day prenatals which never made me feel sick, but have been using rainbow light multivitamins PP, and will probably try those in a prenatal next go around. I took a gummy DHA on top of it as well as an extra vitamin D gummy. Sounds like a lot, but the prenatal was the only pill, the rest were gummies which I happily pretend are candy.

MargaritaVille : I take a separate DHA from Nordic Naturals.
Which ever you choose, make you sure you are checking the other added ingredients. Many supplements have fillers that you want to avoid.
Also, you want folate not folic acid.
