When we were TTC’ing for our first one and during that pregnancy I used the Vitafusion gummies. I had no issues with them, but this time around for TTC’ing I switched to Smarty Pants gummies. I like them because they have folate vs. folic acid, however I don’t like having to take 6 gummies a day, so I recently did some research and found the Mother’s Select brand which are 2 capsules a day. I wanted something with folate and DHA that I could take either once a day or at the most 2 at a time. I will start those next week. When I was on the Vitafusion I did have to take additional Iron, but I found a chewable one via Amazon that I liked. The Smarty Pants don’t have iron, so hopefully these new Mother’s Select will suffice with the iron. Also, using the subscribe option via Amazon or Target helped with cost.

I’ve been taking smarty pants, because they don’t have synthetic colors, artificial flavors, sweeteners, HFCS, or preservatives. However, they are super sugary (they use cane sugar and Lo Han fruit) which I’m not a big fan of. Plus it says take up to 6 a day! Is that normal? I can barely get one down in the morning.
oh it also has methylfolate and DHA.

Garden of Life. In third trimester and haven’t changed. I actually forget to take them most days, but both my midwife and OB said it’s not a problem and to not stress. The prenatal is in addition to the nutrients you’re getting from your food, which is where you should be getting most of your nutrients.

i take spring valley prenatals and spring valley folic acid, once a day and only one pill of each. Im also taking a prescription for thyroid issues.
Ive heard that some brand name prenatals are better for you then others, but ive had plenty of friends get pregnant without ever taking brand name prenatals while TTC.
