    I wouldn’t think twice about it…it’s not like they’re cursed or something!  Just more affordable!

    @Milan21xx:  Absolutely!

    My engagement ring is pre-owned and I love it.

    Absolutely! Why not save lots of money and get a beautiful ring? You’ll get more for your money since diamonds have poor resale value.

    It’s like buying a certified preowned car versus a brand new car. Once you drive the new car off the lot, the value drops by about 20%, and drops even more and more as time goes by. Once you take that diamond ring from the store, the value drops by about 70%. Let someone else absorb that loss!

    Ebay is an excellent place to buy diamonds.

    i have never personally purchased a used ring but i don’t think there is anything wrong with it.

    i have sold many rings and other jewellery on kijiji (like craigslist) and the people who bought them loved them so that makes me happy.  i’d rather see lovely jewellery being worn and enjoyed than hidden away in a jewellery box.

    @Milan21xx:  We actually got mine from a private party off Craigslist. My husband is a Craigslist fanatic.

    He paid somewhere around $1500 and it appraised at a little over $6000. He drives a hard bargain!

    Go for it! You can save tons! Be careful if you’re buying through craigslist – you don’t want to get robbed! Agree to meet at a jeweler and you can get the ring looked at on the spot. If they aren’t willing to do this, it would be difficult for me to buy from them.

    I don’t believe in the whole bad luck thing if it’s a ring from a failed engagement/marriage – who cares if you can get what you love for a great price!

    I absolutely would but Fiance is a little weird about the idea.  Besides, not all preowned jewelry is from a “failed” marriage or engagement.  It could be from a happy marriage that lasted a really long time, only for one of the spouses to be taken too soon from this world.  I think it’s a great way to save money to get your dream ring.

    No problem with it at all and I’m about 95% sure the ring my SO bought for me is the one we picked out and saw at the pawn shop!

    We buy lots of things used, why not this? Diamonds are expensive and who wants to pay for that mark up?

    I think I would be annoyed if my ring was pre-owned for a single fact – the one that I want, my dream ring, is around $60.  So if SO wanted to spend even less than that, I would be annoyed with him because that’s less than our electric bill each month!  Now, if I was going for a Tiffany or something that cost more than $150, then yeah, I would be perfectly FINE with a pre-owned ring as long as it was a legit pre-owned ring not from the black market or something crazy like that.
