I would certainly contact the website with your feedback about this seller.

I’m sorry, that sounds really frustrating! I wouldn’t want to let her get away with treating me like that, but I wouldn’t invest too much more energy either. Write a detailed level-headed email to the appropriate source at the website and believe that the right dress for you simply hasn’t found you yet 🙂

I’m sorry this happened 🙁 I have had trouble with preownedweddingdresses.com also.

I found a dress I had stalked for years (the one in my avatar, from Amsale form like 2005). It was listed on POWD.com and I emailed the seller. It was close to my size, it was even in my state! The seller never emailed me back, so I emailed customer care to see if they could get me a diff. email address for the seller. They were so nice and almost immediately sent me an email contact.

I email the seller directly, she emails back, so nice and really excited to sell her dress. We email for about 2 weeks to set up logistics. When I mention driving to see the dress (in Dallas about 6 hours away) she says the drive will take me “days”. Only then do she and I start piecing things together and realize she is not the right seller! She lives in northern CA, doesn’t have a dress anything LIKE the dress I want, and we both wasted a ton of time and energy.

Did you pay through paypal? I would contact them as well as the website to figure out how to get your money refunded.

I also probably would not have sent her MORE money after this whole thing started, but that’s just me. I hope this works out for you! She sounds like a real piece of work.

If you are trying to buy something for 97% off, that should be your first hint that it’s too good to be true, and is probably a scam….sorry it happened to you – be more careful in the future!

I’m sorry- this sounds so stressful!

I would just give her one more chance to get the dress shipped to you. If you love the dress, that is. Honestly, the seller sounds just super flaky/busy. I know with this week being a holiday week, I was totally slammed myself. I would wait maybe a couple more days (maybe through the weekend) and see if she replies, and then on Monday just ask for your money back from her. It’s not worth the stress. 🙁

Did you use escrow.com, the preferred payment method for preownedweddingdresses.com?  I sold my dress using that site and to a woman in Australia (I am in the US).  I was happy we used escrow.com even though it was more time consuming because it protects both the buyer and the seller.  If you used escrow.com or if it would be easy to receive your money back, I would do so and forget about this dress.  When I sold my dress, I took a million pictures of every detail for the buyer and shipped it the next day with insurance and a trackable method.  I was happy to do anything she wanted and get it out the door asap because I knew how sensitive a purchase it was for her.  This girl should not be giving you the run around and it sounds super shady to me.

I’ve seen that PayPal is going to get you the money back, but I would definitely conctact the website and let them know if it was me.

@sablemuse:  I never found my dress. I don’t think it’s meant to be! I didn’t want to deal with customer care after the whole initial debacle so I gave up.

My advice on your dress is to email her and let her know you love her dress, but you no longer feel comfortable with the financial aspect of the transaction because of her schedule. If it were me, I would email and say “I’d like to give you until Monday at 5PM to ship the dress and issue tracking information. If you can’t make that happen, I understand but will be retracting my payment and pursuing action with PayPal and POWD.com.”

If she’s a legit seller (and my gut is that she IS one, just a flaky one), this will scare her into action. I protect my eBay rating like noone’s business, I would HATE it if someone left me a bad review!

I would contact the website and Paypal about this.  So sorry you’re going through such frustration and panic over this.  I sincerely wish you the best of luck and hope everything works out.
