cbgmtx :  Congrats! Meal prep freezer meals

as much as you can. Is your older child out of the crib? You’ll need a solution for that if not. Give yourself grace because although the recovery can feel super long it really isn’t in the whole scheme of things. I brought a breastfeeding pillow to the hospital.

Supplementing with formula will delay your milk from coming in quicker.  I wouldn’t supplement if you are planning on nursing.  You need baby to nurse as much as possible to help bring in your milk.

cbgmtx :  Yeah, my son lost 10.1% of his body weight as of the morning before my milk came in. We were still in the hospital at that point so they gave me 12 hours to try and get him at least not losing.

I had been pumping every time after nursing for 20 minutes. When my milk came in, I almost died! He gained 1.2 oz back at the end of the 12 hours, so I didn’t have to use formula. But we had a weight check every 3 days for 8 weeks and supplemented with a bottle (pumped milk) for 6 weeks. It was intense. He was also 3 weeks early, so had those concerns as well.

I had oversupply issues up the wazoo. Next time, I think I’ll skip the pumping and supplement with formula because over supply is just as shitty as not enough supply I think. At least with not enough you can use formula, oversupply you’re just in pain until your body stops producing so much. For me, that was 13 weeks after mastitis 3 times and thrush!

All that to say, bringing formula with me next time!

Not anything to add but good luck. I will be having a second c-section in Nov myself. At least we don’t need to pack anything for labour. Make sure you bring lots of high waisted underwear and loose clothes.

cbgmtx :  I actually started hand expressing from 37 weeks and that helped with supply. I brought that (only 1 bottle) into the hospital and I was delighted I did because she ended up in the NICU. I also ended up with oversupply issues!!!!
