This may sound cheesy – but I did something with baby pictures years ago that may work for your situation.  In my case, my grandfather was turning 80, so I took a picture of him with me as a baby, and put that on one side of a nice double frame, and then wrote a poem about how much I cared, printed that and put it on the other.  After my mom saw it she insisted I do another one for my grandmother, and gave them to them at the same time.  They were very touched, to the point of being teary eyed.  Not sure if it would have the same meaning with parents though.

If your parents are set in their ways and don’t go out to dinner – would they be open to having a personal chef come in and cook a gourmet meal for them?  I have no clue if that would fit into a $300 budget though.   Or even if the $300 went to the cost of food and you and your new husband cooked them food it could be a "date night" at home.
