My fiance and I want to purchase thank you gifts for our parents after our wedding. Does anyone have any good suggestions? We were thinking of a couple nights away somewhere locally (in Nova Scotia) or something nice for their houses. Any ideas? Are any of you giving your parents thank you presents?

we didn’t really.. but we did have albums made for the parents of the wedding photos, and also another album made of honeymoon trip photos (parents love photos and also love scenery–we were in greece so the scenery was easy).
our parents did help us a lot in paying for the wedding, but we knew they didn’t want some extravagant gift upon return in exchange for their financial contributions. but a nice bottle of wine (for dad), chocolates (for moms), and lots of phone calls and visits were how we thanked them.

for my parents (who paid for the wedding) we got a "fruit of the month club" from harry and david. i knew they wouldn’t want something collecting dust in their homes so we figured food was the best option — plus they’ll think of us every month for a year when they get the next box.
for his parents (who paid for the rehearsal dinner) we got a nice photo box from kolo with an IOU for wedding pictures to put in the box. for my Father-In-Law (who was a GM) we got a beautiful green tie which all the Groomsmen wore for the wedding.
we also wrote cards to each — i wrote a card to his parents and he wrote a card to both my parents (one each) thanking them for their support and promising to love me and care for me always. it was really sweet.
i don’t think it’s about what you spend but about the thoughts. hth!
