Long story short, I purchased a custom ring (I made several posts earlier on this forum) but discovered several flaws with ring band (1. pit/hole in the band beneath the center stone. 2. missing diamond on setting. 3. waviness/indendation on the side of the ring.) I went to get the ring appraised and the jewelry appraiser told me of the flaws of the band. It is exactly what I saw except there is also a missing diamond on the setting. I contacted the person who purchased it from and told him of the problem with a description of what needed to be done. He was really understanding. I will send it to him on Monday via Fedex his account for the them to fix. After the repairs, the appraiser told me to come back to him to get the official appraisal documents as well as to be sure everything with the diamond ring is ok. I’m going to try and do all this by the 29th which I plan to propose. I really want to make this a special moment and want to avoid proposing and then explaining to her of the flaws of her ring. It kind of puts a tarnish on the whole thing. But what would you all do?
