Can you number them AND assign a city to each table? And then maybe put a photo of the two of you together in that city?
1.) Paris – you two in front of the Eiffel Tower
2.) Madrid – you at the Plaza del Sol
3.) Rome – you at the Trevi Fountain, etc.

If people feel jealous, they are the one having a problem ! Sincerely, I would expect people you invite to your wedding to be people who care about you, who know that you’ve been travelling, and they don’t see it as bragging but as a part of your life (you and your boyfriend) that’s very sweet !

I don’t see a problem with it since it really is a part of your relationship journey. We named our tables after breweries we visited together. Considering we had 20 tables, we probably looked like lushes to some of our guests (lol) but travelling and trying different beers/breweries were a major part of our dating experience. I second PPs about using both name and number for your tables. It’s definitely easier for you, your venue and your guests.
Here was mine:

@Kingler1016: Do you think it would pacify your mom if you threw in some American cities you’ve visited too? Maybe she’s seeing it as a way of saying “look at all the amazing places we’ve been!” Throw OKC and Omaha in there and she might find it more palatable?
PS Omaha is an awesome city, my grandma lives there. Just sayin 😉

It’s an awesome idea!!! We used cities from The Lord of the Rings, and everyone loved it! I was actually surprised how much people liked it and complimented us. I recommend putting table numbers and names though so it’s easy for the caterer and guests to find where they’re supposed to be.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I am going to do the cities with the table numbers!

I think it’s super cute! Some friends of ours did just that and it was awesome. They used a picture of themselves at each place, and it was fun to see them so happy and enjoying themselves.

@Kingler1016: Oh god, I hope people don’t think it’s bragging! We’re naming our tables after the hotels we’ve visited!
We couldn’t think of anything else that meant something to us as a couple, so it was that, or numbers; and I kind of wanted some meaning. Plus, it happens that the hotels we’ve stayed at have nice names eg Excellence, Valentin, Royal, CoCo, and Sahara Sunset. We’re going to make it a game and ask people to guess, with a prize for the first person to get it right.
