check out this thread:

The photographer hunt continues *face palm*

there’s been a lot of discussion of price and one bee shared her google spreadsheet of photogs in the dc area, many with pricing info.

@arclee: I am paying $1500 for unlimited hours on the wedding day, and a 2-hr of engagement session, only 400 edited images (no copy right – yea I know), and a wedding album.  The guy is pretty new, but I really like his style, his portfolio, and his personality – we ‘clicked’ if you know what I mean?

I’ve meet him twice already and my wedding is still 6 months away, he’s really attentive and really awesome so far.  So, I’m praying that this continues and he will do an awesome job!

What is your budget and how much you’re willing to spend?

@u_got_that: would you mind sharing your photographer’s name?

I’m thinking of going no higher than $2500.

@pb and j:Sure, his name is Nick Pastinica and this is his website http://www.lightwelder.com

He also has $1000 package with up to 8-hrs session, I think… but make sure that’s still available.  He’s super nice and obviously I don’t have any pictures from him yet but so far, I really love his work. And by the way, the price includes an assistant, so I think he’s a steal and really good deal!

@Aubergold: Have you checked out washington talent agency? I met with the owner and they said they have good deals on video, photographer and DJ. There maybe a combine package too. I personally only need a DJ from him but then we ended up getting someone from church to be our DJ, saves us a lot of money.  Just a thought …

@Aubergold: check out jennifer myers. she is based out of baltimore. her work is amazing, i first fell in love with my venue based on her pictures. her packages start at $3500. i’ve spoken to other brides that used her and loved her (and loved their pictures).

@pb and j:Thanks!!!  I see she has some pics of Black couples, too which is awesome.

If you guys see any photogs with awesome pictures of black couples, please please let me know.  Both Fiance and I are extremely dark-skinned so we either just can’t find comparable couples or black couples in general end up looking pasty, crusty, generic, or washed out cause there isn’t enough lighting.

I paid $2000 for 8 hours of coverage, a DVD of the high-res pictures and print rights.
