I’m hoping for their cost not to be more than 150-

I’m no where close to deciding Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses but I’ve decided I will pay a percentage or all depending on my budget.  I don’t want to do David’s Bridal so I don’t know what that means for my girls.

Have you talked to them? Who knows, they may be willing to spend more than you had thought. And if not, at least you’ll have a solid number in mind to shop around.

Mine are technically $120, but when they discontinued them in a certain color they went down to $80 for a few of the girls.  The rest of them had to get the dress in a different color at the original price.  When I first started planning I didn’t consider the price, I knew I didn’t want it to be too much but the words “too much” are relative.  When I finally decided to really look for dress I ended up getting something that I didn’t like as much but was affordable and flattering to my BM’s.  I think that’s what’s most important.  You want them to feel comfortable financially and physically.

They each picked their own dress from the same designer and they ranged from $107-138.  (plus shipping)

I’m going with JCrew dresses and giving a few options in the “hazel blue” color. Three of them are like $160-$180 and one of them is $220 (I think – I can’t remember the exact prices), and they can pick whichever one they want that would fit their body type best. I couldn’t find anything else I liked less than $150, which is what I was hoping to find, and DB doesn’t really have the color I want so that was out. I’ve always paid around $200 every time I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man. I know one of my girls is pretty broke so I’m buying her dress.

My dresses are actually $230 – but the store is going to give everyone a 10% discount – and, my Fiance and I are paying for the shipping/tax cost for each girl, since I know that money is tight for some of my girls (they are all traveling in from out of state for the wedding). I told the girls I wouldn’t go over $200 and I came in at $207 per dress (with the discount).

Mine were $189 online (over $200 elsewhere). It was higher than I’d hoped to go (I think of $150 or less as reasonable for bm dresses).

i’m still deciding on a dress (or actually, dresses, because i’m hoping to pic a designer and color and a couple choices and let them choose from a few cuts), but this is such an awkward and hard decision! i really love this one dress (which is actually 4 dresses they could choose from), but even with the discount we’d get by buying them from the salon i bought my dress from it’d be $280+tax, shipping, and alterations, which just seems like so, so much to ask. i haven’t looked at dresses in person yet though–we’re going in 2 weeks–so i’m hoping to find something that i like as much for less! in an email asking about other preferences about the dress (i wanted to gauge their fabric and color preferences too), i also asked my bridesmaids about how much they’d be okay with spending. that way, if the dress we choose costs more, i’ll cover the amount over what they say and hopefully avoid alienating anyone…

i let them pick their own dresses, one was $30 on sale and one was $112. but as a bridesmaid, i would expect to pay $100-150.

We are shopping en masse in a few weeks but I am trying to keep the dress at $250 or less.  The $150 mark would be better.

mine are $180, but since i couldn’t go shopping with all of them and i needed to pick a dress because my sister is leaving to live down in florida, i decided that as part of their bridesmaid gift i’m giving them each $50 towards the dress. that’ll bring their total to $130, which i think is reasonable. i told them to contact me if they have a problem with that price and we can work something out.

It was $150 exactly, so I guess with tax it was in the $150-$200 range. My one and only attendant picked it out, I would have chosen something less expensive. But it was beautiful and she loved it, so whatever.
